Top Ten Tuesday (59)- My Ten Characters Everyone Loves But I Just Don't Get, the Love Interest Edition

Hi thanks for stopping by!!! And welcome to my Top 10 Tuesday post!

Thanks to the lovely ladies at The Broke And The Bookish for creating this weekly meme!

Here's this week's topic.

March 8: Ten Characters Everyone Loves But I Just Don't Get

I'm going to make this list more specific than just characters I don't like. I'm going to go with love interests.

1. Peeta from The Hunger Games series. Sorry y'all I just never saw his appeal. Although I never liked Gale either. I always loved Finnick *sobs*

2. Adam from the Shatter Me series. Team Warner all the way! I thought Adam was annoying.

3. Jonas from the Falling Kingdoms series. Yep Team Magnus all the way!

4. Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I'm probably going to get a lot of crap for this one but I truly do not like his character! I only kept reading the book for the other POV's. Especially Matthais and Nina.

5. Tamlin from Sarah J. Maas's A Court of Thorns And Roses. I preferred Lucien and Rhys.

6. Luc from Page Morgan's The Dispossessed series. I am definitely a Nolan girl!

7. Jack from Kresley Cole's The Arcana Chronicles. I can't stand Jack! I love Death (Aric).

8. Morpheus from A.G. Howard's Splintered series. Sorry don't get the appeal. Team Jeb for life!

9. Maxon from Kiera Cass's The Selection series. Probably going to get crap for this one too! But sorry I'm an Aspen girl. Also I DNF'd the last book because I figured out the ending and who she was going to end up with by page 13!

10. Jack from Brodi Ashton's Everneath series. Again I just don't get his appeal. I loved Cole from the moment I met him.

So what about you? What are your favorite fantasy books? And check back next week for my Ten Books On My Spring TBR.

Top Ten Tuesday (45)- My Top Ten Author Duos You'd LOVE To See Write A Book Together

Hi thanks for stopping by!!! And welcome to my Top 10 Tuesday post!

Thanks to the lovely ladies at The Broke And The Bookish for creating this weekly meme!

Here's this week's topic.

October 13: Top Ten Author Duos You'd LOVE To See Write A Book Together

There's a ton of authors that I can think of for this lol

1. Tahereh Mafi and Ransom Riggs. They may be married but they need to write a book together. :)
2. Dan and Robinson Wells. I'd love to see what this team of brothers would come up with!
3. Maria V. Snyder and Rae Carson. With the amazing world building and compelling characters they both write. These two could write one EPIC high fantasy together!
4. Sabaa Tahir and Renee Ahdieh.I think these two besties could write an amazing story!
5. Claudia Gray and Dan Wells (yes he's on the list twice lol) I bet these 2 could write one amazing sci-fi with dual POV's!
6. Cat Winters and Katherine Longshore. I bet these two ladies could write an amazing historical series together!
7. A.G. Howard and Marie Rutkoski. With these 2 writing together I think we could have one hell of a fantastic fantasy.
8. Kresley Cole and Gena Showalter. These two together could write a paranormal series (YA, NA, or Adult) that would probably be the best paranormal series ever.
9. Sarah J. Maas and Susan Dennard. Yes I know they have an online sci-fi serial but I'd like to see them write a book or a series for print.
10. Julie Kagawa and Melissa Marr. These two would make fae magic together :)

So what about you? What authors would you like to see write a book together? And come back next week for my 10 Wishes I'd Ask The Book Genie To Grant Me.

Hugs,
Jaime

Top 10 of 2014 Day 1- Best Books I've Read in 2014 and a Giveaway!

Yay welcome to day 1 of our Top 10 of 2014 event! We're so happy that you all are participating with us! 2014 was an awesome year for me. I've read 107 books as of today and will most likely hit my goal of 110 by the 31st! I love the Goodreads Reading Challenge I sign up every year and the people at Goodreads have a cool Your Year of Books when you sign up for the challenge. If you want to see all the books I read this year go HERE!

So today’s topic is Best Books I've Read in 2014 (Doesn't have to be released in 2014, just a book you've read in 2014). And I had a hell of a time narrowing it down to just 10 so there are a few honorable mentions added to this list. If you want to know anything about the books I chose just click on the title and it’ll take you to the Goodreads page!

And make sure to stop by my co-hosts sites Reading YA Rocks (Fiktshun’s new site), Tales of a Ravenous Reader, and Magical Urban Fantasy Reads for their lists! Oh and make sure to sign up with the linky to share your lists! And don’t forget to enter the giveaway! Details are at the end of this post!

Monday, December 24th - Best Books I've Read in 2014 (Doesn't have to be released in 2014, just a book you've read in 2014)

1. A THOUSAND PIECES OF YOU by Claudia Gray. This was my favorite of the year hands down!!!!! It was an amazing sci-fi story with the perfect amount of mystery and romance.

2. WINTERSPELL by Claire Legrand. A dark Nutcracker retelling with steampunk fae and a hot tormented prince this one will definitely be a re-read for me!

3. DEFY and IGNITE by Sara B Larson. Freaking fantastic books!!!!! This was the year of amazing high fantasy and Sara started and ended it (since IGNITE comes out Dec 30th) with a bang!

4. KISS OF DECEPTION by Mary Pearson. Another seriously kick ass high fantasy! Mary’s storytelling is amazing and she kept me guessing till the end about who was who! Normally I can figure things out but nope I was totally surprised with the outcome There’s also 2 hot boys to choose from!

5. SNOW LIKE ASHES by Sara Raasch. High fantasy #3 on my list this year! It was awesome, amazeballs, mind-blowing!!!! Loved Theron and I can’t wait for book 2!

6. HEIR OF FIRE by Sarah J. Maas. Ok seriously I have no idea what it is about chicks named Sara/Sarah but they’re rocking the high fantasy this year! HEIR was absolutely amazing and I can’t wait for the next book.

7. SILVER SHADOWS by Richelle Mead. Adrian fricking Ivashkov!!! Need I say more?? This book tortured me sooooo bad and then the ending was perfect and a cliffhanger ugh!

8. IGNITE ME by Tahereh Mafi. Haters gonna hate on this one because of who Juliet ends up with but seeing as I was Team Warner this book made me happy dance like crazy!!!!

9. ALIENATED by Melissa Landers.  I love me a good alien story and this beats JLA’s Lux series IMO and I can’t wait for book 2!

10. MORTAL HEART by Robin LaFevers. It’s historical fantasy at its best and a beautiful conclusion to the series! Although I have heard that Robin may revisit this world to which I say please do!!!!

THE FOREVER SONG by Julie Kagawa.

INTO THE STILL BLUE by Veronica Rossi.

Top Ten Tuesday (5)-Top Ten Characters I Wish Would Get Their OWN Book

Hi and welcome to my Top 10 Tuesday post! Looks like I'll be sticking with this one for a while since I enjoy this meme!

Thanks to the lovely ladies at The Broke And The Bookish for creating this weekly meme!

Here's this week's topic.

November 11: Top Ten Characters You Wish Would Get Their OWN Book (minor or just maybe a semi main character you wish a book was from their POV)

This one I thought would be easy there's a ton of characters I love right? But when I got to thinking about it I'm not sure how many would be great in their own book but here's my 10.

1. Ari and Janco from THE STUDY and THE GLASS Books by Maria V. Snyder. Yeah, yeah I know there's 2 here but these two are a package deal and I love Janco but those two together are hilarious!

2. Kenji from Tahereh Mafi's SHATTER ME Series! Kenji was for me one of my favorite characters in the book! Yeah I loved Juliette and Warner (not Adam) but If I had to pick I would have said screw both Adam and Warner and ran off with Kenji!

3.Raffe from Joelle Charbonneau's THE TESTING Series. He's such an interesting character and even though he's only in the last 2 books I fell hard for this guy! I'd love to see a POV from him about his life since he didn't have to go through the Testing like Cia did.

4. Blake from Wendy Higgins' SWEET Trilogy. Doesn't everyone love Blake? This kid... the Duke of Envy's son would be so awesome to read about he leads a colorful life.

5. Nolan from Page Morgan's THE DISPOSSESSED Series. Yes, I know he has scenes from his POV (cough confessional scene cough) but I'd read a whole damned book just about him!

6. Jackal from Julie Kagawa's BLOOD OF EDEN Series. This so much!!! I freaking loved his character and would love to read about him when he was turned.

7. Red from A.G. Howard's SPLINTERED series. This chick is crazy times a thousand! I'd love to see what made her that way.

8. Kat from Gena Showalter's THE WHITE RABBIT CHRONICLES. I adore her and her relationships with Ali and the crew. It's be cool to see her POV since she's one of the non slayers in the group. Also some sexy times with Frosty would be cool too ;)

9. Felix from Sarah Cross's BEAU RIVAGE Series. Yes I know he's the bad guy but if you've read the book you can't help feel bad for this dude. I kinda (not kinda I really) love him. He can't help what he is, it's his curse.

10.Roar from Veronica Rossi's UNDER THE NEVER SKY Series. I know he has a novella but I need more! I'd read a whole series from his POV!

So this is my list. What about you? What would you re-read if you had the time?

And come back next week for theTop Ten Sequels I Can't Wait To Get

Hugs,
Jaime

From Goodreads.

tick, tick, tick, tick, tick
it's almost
time for war.

Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.

She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.

Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.

I loved Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi but, I will admit that with the twist at the end I was a little afraid of where she might be taking the sequel. Was it going to be more like X-Men? Was it going to lose its beautiful lyrical style? Were there going to be more strike-throughs? What would happen to this beautiful relationship that Juliette and Adam had formed? And most importantly what happened to Warner? Because yes people I am Team Warner and damned proud of it!

Tahereh took my worries and quickly put them at ease. Dare I say Unravel Me was better than Shatter Me? I think I will! Where Shatter was brilliant Unravel dazzled! It was another beautifully written story that had me screaming, pulling my hair, swooning, crying (bawling actually), and left me absolutely speechless!

I won’t go into much detail as to where the story goes because I don’t want to be yelled at for posting spoilers. I actually got yelled at on twitter for posting page numbers! Yes just page numbers people not even what was going on! Let me just say we meet more people with unique gifts some are pretty damned cool. Also there are some really cool twists to the story that left me saying “No Way!”. We also get more of our favorite characters; don’t worry Team Adam people there’s plenty of him in this book! We also get to know Kenji better and I absolutely fell in love with his charismatic smile, quick wit, and snark. If Warner didn’t have my heart completely Kenji would. I will say Juliette’s adjustment to being around people left her kind of whiny and standoffish but, that is only in the first part of the book. And my Warner *sighs*, my Warner he is so amazing! You get to see a more human side; and yes people I know that were adamant Warner haters who have read Unravel now love him too! Don’t believe me? Read the book when it comes out!

I chose a couple passages that I loved each for different reasons……

Adam and Juliette:

Adam isn’t looking at me anymore but he’s not letting go, either. I lean forward and leave a light kiss on his heart. He finally meets my eyes. Offers me a smile, pained smile.

“I love you,” I tell him, quietly, so only he can hear me.

He exhales a short, uneven breath. Whispers, “You have no idea,” and pulls himself away. Pivots on one heel. Heads out the door.

My heart is beating in my throat.

The girls are staring at me. Concerned.

Sonya is about to speak, but then.

a switch

a click

a flicker

and the lights are out.

Warner (sighs) and Juliette:

“Do you know,” he says, closing the cover of the journal only to lay his hand on top of it. Protecting it. Staring at it. “I couldn’t sleep for days after I read that entry. I kept wanting to know which people were chasing you down the street, who it was you were running from. I wanted to find them,” he says, so softly “and I wanted to rip their limbs off, one by one. I wanted to murder them in ways that would horrify you to hear.”

I’m shaking now, whispering, “Please give that back to me.”

He touches the tips of his fingers to his lips. Tilts his head back, just a little. Smiles a strange unhappy smile. Says, “You must know how sorry I am. That I”---he swallows---“That I kissed you like that. I confess I had no idea you would shoot me for it.”
