Sweet Evil Blog Tour: Lightening Round with Wendy and Kaidan

Today we have the awesome Wendy Higgins visiting the blog she wrote Sweet Evil a book which we’re both quite obsessed with! Especially a certain fictional boy ahem Kaidan Rowe ;) ;) and besides our questions for Wendy, Kai was available to answer a few as well!

 Wendy’s Questions
Paranormal, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, or Dystopian?
Love them all, but my order of preference is Para, Dystopian, Fantasy, then Sci-Fi.

Rock or Country?
Rock (though I’m not opposed to Country)

The Beatles or The Rolling Stones?
The Beatles!!!

Three things you never leave home without?
My purse (includes cell phone, keys & wallet), undies (I’m not quite “celeb” enough to go without), & imagination (keeps me busy during traffic, waiting rooms, etc.)

Harry Potter, Twilight, or The Hunger Games (movies)?
Well, I loved all of those books, but the Harry Potter movies were my fave.

Twitter or Facebook?
Ooh, this is hard. Okay…FB for keeping in touch with friends & family, but Twitter for talking to bloggers and writers.

Aside from Angels and Demons. What’s your favorite Vampires, Fairies, Aliens, or Witches?
I seriously love it all. And vamps have never grown old for me (pardon the pun).

Long walks on the beach or dinner and a movie?
These days I’m a sucker for dinner and a movie. J

Questions for Kaidan ;)
Good girls or Bad girls?
Either. Both. Any. All.

Neal Peart, John Bonham, or Lars Ulrich?
Of those three, John Bonham of Zeppelin. And more recently Travis Barker. Have you seen this? Incredible. This vid gives me a man crush.

That was pretty badass!!!!!!

Favorite sport?
Eh, not my thing, personally. But I respect Rugby - a proper man’s sport with no helmets or padding.

Favorite fruit?
I’ve taken a sudden liking to pears lately. Juicy pears… *clears throat* Strange.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

The beach or the mountains?
What git would choose the mountains? They require far too many clothes.
Haha good call!

Is that all you’ve got for me, Jaime and Patricia? I thought we’d be at it a bit longer. Maybe another day, eh?
Ummm yeah sure Kai whenever you want ;)

So want to know more about Sweet Evil before it comes out May 1st? Check out Jaime’s Review.

Jaime's Review of Grave Mercy by R.L. LaFevers

Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin #1)
R.L. LaFevers
Hardcover: 560 pages
Release Date: April 3, 2012
Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Books for Children
ISBN: 054762834X
Source: ARC from the publisher at NCIBA
Rating: Loved

From Goodreads. Why be the sheep, when you can be the wolf? Seventeen-year-old Ismae escapes from the brutality of an arranged marriage into the sanctuary of the convent of St. Mortain, where the sisters still serve the gods of old. Here she learns that the god of Death Himself has blessed her with dangerous gifts—and a violent destiny. If she chooses to stay at the convent, she will be trained as an assassin and serve as a handmaiden to Death. To claim her new life, she must destroy the lives of others. Ismae's most important assignment takes her straight into the high court of Brittany—where she finds herself woefully under prepared—not only for the deadly games of intrigue and treason, but for the impossible choices she must make. For how can she deliver Death’s vengeance upon a target who, against her will, has stolen her heart?

I rarely read historical fiction mostly because I haven’t found any that have blown my mind. But this book did!!! Not only was there a main character who was an assassin and a complete badass but there was a love interest that had me at hello (yes I know cheesy Jerry Maguire quote) even if he didn't have Ismae’s.

The court intrigue and the twists and turns gave me whiplash, but it was the good kind. I loved trying to figure out exactly who the bad guy was and who could be trusted and I fell in love with many of the characters not just Ismae and Duval. I think what I loved about this book the most was there was an ending. Yes I’m sure there will be more about Ismae and Duval in the upcoming books, but book 2 will be about another character Sybella who was a mystery wrapped in an enigma in book one and I can’t wait to find out more about her. And I have an idea who her love interest is but I won’t spoil anything all I will say is yay and I can’t wait for their story!!!!
I had a hard time just picking one passage from Grave Mercy but I think I found the perfect one J

“I fear it is what my convent expects,” I tell him.”They may train us in the arts of love, but in their minds our hearts belong firmly to Mortain.”

“I disagree with your convent,” he says. “Why give us hearts at all then?”

Slowly, as if afraid I will bolt, he reaches for my hand, which has somehow escaped from the covers. When he laces his fingers through mine, my heart does its now familiar panicked flight, bumping painfully against my ribs. My shoulder twitches as if to pull my hand back, but my heart overrules it.
His hand is warm, the skin firm. We sit together in silence. I do not know what is going through his head, but my own mind is unable to form a single thought. At least, not a coherent one. After a long while, he squeezes my hand, then leans down to kiss the back of it. His lips are warm and soft and I am filled with the memory of them on my mouth, my throat. Slowly, as if with great reluctance, he pulls away, and I shiver. “Perhaps,” he says. “When this is all over.”

“Perhaps, my lord.”

Ok so swoons!!!!!

The Daemon Invasion is finally here...

Over the last couple of weeks, you've heard us talking about the upcoming #daemoninvasion and we're so excited to finally share with you what is going on.

REALLY EXCITED!

The beautiful and uber cool models, Pepe Toth and Sztella Tziotziosz, who grace the Lux covers, will be joining us in the United States! You heard right. They are flying here, from Hungary to spend a few days as Daemon and Katy! While they are here, they will be working with Vania, from VLC Productions (the team behind Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments, Melissa de la Cruz, Kimberly Derting, Moira Young, Kami Garcia and Margret Stohl, Hillary Duff, Lauren Destefano, and many, many more authors' book trailers), to film book trailers for the Lux Series.

During the filming in Atlanta, they will be accompanying us on tour! What does that mean? You get to meet them. In the flesh. They will be participating in the signings and events. At those signings, we'll be giving away signed posters, photos, and other swag. There will also be meet and greet events you can join in on.

At each signing, there will be advanced copies of Onyx given away!

And to top thing off (as if this isn't enough, be we don't do anything small), there's something very, very exciting in the works! It involves advanced copies of Opal, water, and a little destination known as the Bahahmas.

We are not kidding.

This will be epic.

Are you excited? We are. This tour is going to be so, so much fun, and we're so thrilled that Pepe and Sztella are a part of it. We owe them a huge thank you and a giant welcome for making the 16 hour flight to meet the readers of the Lux Series. YOU!!

Jaime's Review of Onyx By Jennifer L. Armentrout

Onyx
Jennifer L. Armentrout
Paperback: 416 pages
Release Date: August 14, 2012
Publisher: Entangled Publishing
ISBN: 1620610116
Source: E-Galley from the publisher
Rating: Obsessed

From Goodreads.                                                     Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…                         Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarre connection. I’ve sworn him off even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But against all common sense, I’m falling for him. Hard.                                                                                           Our relationship issues aren’t out biggest problem…                                                                             The Department of Defense is here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And when a new boy shows up a school with a secret of his own, things get complicated fast. I need to choose between my own instincts and Daemon’s. But then everything changes…                                                                                                                      I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. Daemon’s never going to stop searching until gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me? No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies.

Onyx  was longer than the first but so worth it. It was hottter, sexier, more action packed, absolutely gut wrenching, and more tear filled than Obsidian! There’s really not much I can say without spoiling the story but I will say holy shit I fell more in love with Daemon I didn’t think it would be possible but he is now my favorite character in any of Jen’s books! I loved Katy too I mean she is one kick ass chick and I still love that she’s a blogger. Y’all might remember that from my gushing review of Obsidian ;)

There’s a few new characters introduced and one happens to be a very hot boy with some pretty intense secrets. There are some pretty intense surprises in this book and let me tell you some will leave you reeling and cursing at Jennifer especially after the ending (hello holy shit moment)! You will be dying to read Opal and this wait is going to be a killer!

I picked a passage that I think is pretty safe to share and it’s one of my favorites!

Around six in the evening. I felt that now-oh-so-familiar tingle on the back of my neck right before Daemon knocked. A ball of confusing feelings unfurled inside me as I hurried to the door.

The first thing I noticed was the large box beside him, and then the scent of roasted turkey and yams.

“Hey,” he said, holding a stack of covered plates. “Happy Thanksgiving.”

I blinked slowly. “Happy Thanksgiving.”

“You going to invite me in?” He held up the plates, wiggling them. “I come bearing gifts in the form of food.”

I stepped aside.

Still grinning, he came in and waved his free hand. The box lifted off the porch and trailed behind him like a dog. It landed just inside the foyer. As I shut the door, I caught sight of Ash and Andrew climbing into their car. Neither of them looked over.

A lump formed in my throat as I turned to Daemon.

“I brought a little of everything,” He headed toward the kitchen. “There’s turkey, yams, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, green-bean casserole, some kind of apple crisp thing and pumpkin—Kitten? Are you coming?”

That’s it no more you’ll just have to wait to see what happens but just let me say it’s one of the best parts of the book ;)

Unraveling Blog Tour and a Giveaway!!!!!!

So we are so ridiculously excited for today’s post! We have both read Unraveling and absolutely freaking loved the book! Liz Norris was super sweet and asked us to be on the tour and of course we said yes! Oh and also we get to give away a signed copy of Unraveling and bookmarks!

Now on to our post. A couple weeks ago Jaime went on vacation to San Diego (coincidentally that’s where the book takes place) so she thought she’d take pictures of the places in the book and have Liz add captions to them! Liz loved the idea so here’s what we’ve come up with! Also there’s a slideshow with more photos at the bottom!

Janelle is a lifeguard, and in the opening scene of Unraveling, she's finished up her last shift of the summer. Making Janelle a lifeguard wasn't necessarily a conscious decision. Like Janelle, I was a swimmer and a lifeguard, and when I started thinking about her, it just fit that she would be those things too.

Torrey Pines State Reserve is the beach Janelle always goes to--and where she works as a lifeguard. This was my favorite beach in San Diego because it was always the least crowded.

Ben works at Kon-Tiki Motorcycles in Pacific Beach. He likes working on cars and motorcycles--it's something that he's really good at, and I used to walk by Kon-Tiki a lot when I was in Pacific Beach. I always loved the name.

Sunset Cliffs is where Ben takes Janelle on her first date. It's one of the most romantic places (especially during sunset) that I've ever been.

In my mind, this is the view Janelle and Ben have on their date. Ben takes her here because Janelle's always loved the ocean and the beach and because it's a place where they can be together--just them--and really talk and learn more about each other.

This is why Unraveling is set in San Diego. Other than the fact that I lived there and can picture it really well, it's such a beautiful place with so many interesting places to go. I see pictures like this and wish I could teleport there and feel the ocean breeze.

Awesome right? San Diego is beautiful and the perfect setting for Unraveling! So no onto the giveaway just fill out the rafflecopter form below and good luck! Oh and make sure to check out Jaime's review of Unraveling
a Rafflecopter giveaway

Make sure to check out all the other tour stops for awesome posts like get info about the sequel, the actors Liz would cast as Ben and Janelle, and more! Also there will be  other chances to win Unraveling and signed bookmarks!
