Blog Tour- SENTINEL by Jennifer L. Armentrout it's APOLLYON Day and an awesome Giveaway!

Wow! I can't believe it's almost over! I've loved this series so much and I'm going to be sad to see it go :( Jennifer has made me fall in love with so many of the characters in this series and I don't want to say goodbye. Yep that's a Boys II Men Video of "It's So Hard The Say Goodbye to Yesterday" this pretty much sums up how I feel about this series ending :(

Everyone is probably going to be featuring Aidan, Seth, and Alex in their posts so I wanted to focus on a character that is near and dear to my heart and has an increasing role with each book in the series and that's why I chose Apollyon and Leon to feature. I interviewed him back during the Deity blog tour but I wanted to re-post his interview since I love him so much! Here it is!

Jaime- Why are you so darned competitive?

Leon- “I don’t think I’m competitive,” he says. “At least, there’d have to be someone of my skill and talent to be competitive with and that has yet to happen. So how could I be competitive?”

Jaime- What do you think of Alex’s relationships with Aiden and Seth?

Leon- He snorts. “I am the last person to think about or render judgment on other people’s relationships.”

Jaime- You have a secret are we going to find out what it is soon? Any hints?

Leon- “I did have a pretty big secret and yes you find out soon and no I will not give you any hints.”

Jaime- What’s your ideal woman like?

Leon- “Breathing,” he replies.

Jaime- If you weren't a Sentinel what would you be doing?

Leon- Leon laughs. “Oh, that’s a loaded question.”

Jaime- What do you think will happen when Alex comes into her Apollyon powers? Do you think she’ll be able to handle them?

Leon- There’s a pause. “Alex is a very strong girl, but we’re dealing with absolute power, and throughout history, the kind of power has proven to be nearly impossible to control.”

So if you've read Deity you now what Leon's secret is and if you haven't I'd say why not? Now's the time to catch up!

Also I didn't post a review on my blog for Apolloyon because I am an idiot but here's what I said on Goodreads......

"I swear to the gods Jen if you don't stop writing books like this I will wait until the whole series is over before I start them! Waiting for Sentinel is going to effing suck!!!!!"

Hehehehe love you Jen and the books but I swear I will wait until a series is over if you keep killing us with those cliffies ;) ;)

Apolloyon (Covenant #4)
Jennifer L. Armentrout
Release Date: April 9, 2013
Paperback: 360 pages
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
ISBN: 1937053164
Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex.

Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back.

The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.

Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself.

Review- Requiem by Lauren Oliver

Requiem
Lauren Oliver
Release Date: March 5, 2013
Hardcover: 368 pages
Publisher: Harper Teen
ISBN: 0062014536
Source: ARC from the San Francisco/Sacramento Book Review
Rating: Liked
From Goodreads.

Now an active member of the resistance, Lena has been transformed. The nascent rebellion that was under way in Pandemonium has ignited into an all-out revolution in Requiem, and Lena is at the center of the fight.

After rescuing Julian from a death sentence, Lena and her friends fled to the Wilds. But the Wilds are no longer a safe haven—pockets of rebellion have opened throughout the country, and the government cannot deny the existence of Invalids. Regulators now infiltrate the borderlands to stamp out the rebels, and as Lena navigates the increasingly dangerous terrain, her best friend, Hana, lives a safe, loveless life in Portland as the fiancée of the young mayor. Requiem is told from both Lena’s and Hana’s points of view. The two girls live side by side in a world that divides them until, at last, their stories converge.

Y’all now don’t get mad at me I liked this one I just didn’t love it like I did Delirium and even Pandemonium. I’ve even given myself a few days to ponder why before writing my review. So here’s my thoughts…..

Lauren’s world building is amazingly written and I love how descriptive she is about life in the Wilds and also back in Portland. I absolutely loved this story up until the very last chapter and then I didn’t. My favorite parts of the story were the ones written from Lena’s POV. I think that’s one of my biggest problems final book in the series. With the three books Lauren went from just Lena’s POV in Delirium, to Lena’s POV past and present in Pandemonium, to Dual POV’s in Requiem; and the second POV was Hana’s. Whom after reading her short story I really could have cared less about. I actually hated her. If Lauren was going to write a second POV in this book I really believe it should have been Alex’s. I think she went with Hana because after what happens in her short story she needed redemption but even then I really had a hard time caring about her.

Oh and the ever present non-love triangle between Alex, Lena, and Julian? Call it what you want but when there’s two guys and the character cares about both of them and, they both care about her even if one doesn’t act like it. It’s a love triangle. Just trust me on this Team Alex and Team Julian will not be happy with the outcome I know I wasn’t because there was no outcome! Oh yeah on to the ending! I don’t think I’ve been this frustrated with a book series ending since Mockingjay! Was there a happy ending? Hell no! Not in my opinion. Was there an ending yes, yes there was but I’m still left numb by it. I’m actually angered by it and I feel it was kind of a cop out.

I was really excited by this one and I’m really upset that I didn’t like it more. I did like it though I just didn’t love it like I had hoped. I really hope you all who have read, loved, and invested so much into this series like I have; read it and feel differently.

I chose a passage between Alex and Lena and this is about as close to hope as I got in this book.

Alex is standing a little ways away from where Julian is lying. All his anger gone; instead he looks shocked, his hands limp at his sides. He’s staring at Julian, looking puzzled, as though he doesn’t know how Julian got there.

I stand up and move toward him, feeling the anger crawl into my fingers. I wish I could wrap them around his neck, choke him.

“What the hell is the matter with you?” My voice is low. I have to push the words out past the hard lump of anger in my throat.

“I--I’m sorry,” Alex whispers. He shakes his head. “I didn’t mean… I don’t know what happened. I’m sorry Lena.”

If he keeps looking at me like that—pleading, willing me to understand—I know I’ll start to forgive him.

“Lena.” He takes a step toward me, and I take a step back. For a moment we stand there; I can feel the pressure of his eyes on me, and the pressure, too, of his guilt. But I won’t look at him, I can’t.

“I’m sorry,” he repeats again, too low for Raven and Tack to hear. “I’m sorry for everything.”

Then he turns and pushes into the woods, and he’s gone.

Deity
Jennifer L. Armentrout
Release Date: November 6, 2012
Paperback: 360 pages
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
ISBN:  1937053148
"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate…

Ok so now on to my interview with Leon.

Dear Jennifer, stop writing such awesome books! No really don’t lol

I have had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer and, just like her books she is awesome. I don’t know how she does it. I mean having two very successful series and more books coming out. This woman is like Superwoman or something! And what kills me is her books don’t hit slumps, each one is better than their predecessor. Deity is definitely the best of the Covenant series so far!

This one starts up a little bit after Pure ends and the drama picks up almost immediately. Seth, OMG people! Seth is just shady in this book no way around it. I loved him in Pure, I even thought I may be leaning in a Team Seth direction but, nope he fixed that one in this book. I am totally Team Aiden!!!! Well for Alex that is. For me I’m Team Leon lol and the big guy has a secret in this one. I screamed “I knew it!!!!” when I found out but, it only made me love him more. Oh and don’t fret, along with the drama there are tons of steamy, downright hot, sexy scenes that will make you want to say “how can she get away with this in YA?” and then think “Ya know I don’t really care.” Lol Oh and if you’re a crier you will cry! I bawled in a few places but the crying is so worth it! This story absolutely rocks and the ending?!?!? Trust me you will curse Jenn because that ending is just plain evil and you will be dying to get your hands on Elixr like I am!

I had one heck of a time picking a passage. I wanted to share them all lol. But here goes!

“Look,” Aiden said, his hands rising into the air. “Get mad at me. Hit me. It doesn't change anything.”

I moved toward him, to push him but not actually hit him. “You can’t---“

Aiden caught both of my wrists and hauled me into his lap, switching my wrists to one hand. He sighed. “I didn’t mean for you to actually hit me.”

Too stunned to respond, I just stared at him. Our heads were only inches apart. My legs tangled with his, and then he reached up with his free hand, smoothing the mess of hair back from my face. My breath caught as my heart sped up. Our gazes locked and his eyes turned to quicksilver.

He cupped the nape of my neck. I heard his sharp intake of breath. Then he let go of my wrists and grasped my hips. Before I could blink, I was on my back, and Aiden hovered over me. Using one arm to support himself, he lowered his head and brushed his lips over my swollen cheek.

“How do we always end up like this?” he asked, voice rough as his gaze traveled away from my face and down my body.

“I didn’t do this.” Slowly, I lifted my hands and placed them against his chest. His heart jumped under my palm.

“No this was all me.” The lower half of his body shifted down. Our legs were flush. His eyes searched mine, “It gets harder every time.”
