Blog Tour- TEN THOUSAND SKIES ABOVE YOU by Claudia Gray A Guest Post & A Giveaway!

I am so excited to be hosting a spot on Claudia Gray's Official TEN THOUSAND SKIES ABOVE YOU blog tour! I am freaking OBSESSED with this series, I mean seriously there are no words for how much I love it (and Paul *swoons*). I have a guest post to share with you today! And make sure to enter the giveaway to win signed finished copies of both books

Haven't heard of TEN THOUSAND SKIES ABOVE YOU? Check it out!

Title: TEN THOUSAND SKIES ABOVE YOU
Author: Claudia Gray
Release Date: November 3, 2014
Pages: 432
Publisher: HarperTeen
Formats: Hardcover, eBook, audiobook
Ever since she used the Firebird, her parents' invention, to cross into alternate dimensions, Marguerite has caught the attention of enemies who will do anything to force her into helping them dominate the multiverse—even hurting the people she loves. She resists until her boyfriend, Paul, is attacked and his consciousness scattered across multiple dimensions.
Marguerite has no choice but to search for each splinter of Paul’s soul. The hunt sends her racing through a war-torn San Francisco, the criminal underworld of New York City, and a glittering Paris where another Marguerite hides a shocking secret. Each world brings Marguerite one step closer to rescuing Paul. But with each trial she faces, she begins to question the destiny she thought they shared.
The second book in the Firebird trilogy, Ten Thousand Skies Above You features Claudia Gray’s lush, romantic language and smart, exciting action, and will have readers clamoring for the next book.

Now on to the guest post!

So I asked Claudia……

What do you love about Marguerite and Paul? Why should we care about them as a couple?

I adore them both as individuals and together—to a point I think it may be unprofessional to show as a writer, but so it is—so let me talk about each one separately before I get into the love. J

Marguerite first inspires me because she has spent her whole life being a fish out of water in her own home, even though she has such a good relationship with her eccentric family. Sometimes she feels a little insecure about her lack of the same big squishy scientist brain that her mom, dad and sister all have, but for the most part, she carves out her own life and interests. She concentrates on what she can do, not what she can't—which is a lesson it took me, personally, a long time to learn. Her impulsiveness and her quickness to judge are some of her greatest flaws, but those are the flip sides of her greatest strengths: determination, loyalty, vitality and protectiveness.

Paul just makes my heart ache. The series hasn't shown—yet—why Paul's upbringing was so harsh and strange. However, you know even from A THOUSAND PIECES OF YOU that he can't call on his family and that they don't support him. As someone who graduated from high school around age 12, he's always been the youngest in his classes by many years, meaning that he's always been a man apart. Before his work with Henry and Sophia, his friendship with Theo and his love for Marguerite, he's never really had people in his life who cared deeply about him. So he's been so lonely, and he doesn't know how to connect to people, and he's trying so hard to learn. And finally, as we saw in book one, he was willing to throw away his future and risk his life just to save Marguerite, so I love his selflessness too.

Finally, I love them together because they truly give each other so much. Marguerite brings Paul out of his melancholy, accepts him just as he is, and brings energy and joy into his life. Paul appreciates her unique skills and personality, steadies her impulses, and makes her feel cherished. Each one, individually, is courageous, but they make each other braver. Each one is intelligent, but in different ways, meaning that together they understand things so much more fully than they would on their own.

And of course there's that sense of destiny—their knowledge that fate itself brings them together in world after world, that their love for each other recurs in so many ways. In some ways, that's almost intimidating: What does that mean for them? What is it about the two of them that destiny works so hard to recreate time and time again? But I think it's also deeply romantic. As I saw someone online once said to describe AU fanfic, there's something so compelling about the idea that "Every me loves every you." If you love all the potential people someone could be, that's an all-encompassing love…the kind each one of us yearns for. Paul and Marguerite have that chance.

About Claudia:

Every Day meets Cloud Atlas in this heart-racing, space- and time-bending, epic new trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray.

Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their radical scientific achievements. Their most astonishing invention: the Firebird, which allows users to jump into parallel universes, some vastly altered from our own. But when Marguerite’s father is murdered, the killer—her parent’s handsome and enigmatic assistant Paul—escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.

Marguerite can’t let the man who destroyed her family go free, and she races after Paul through different universes, where their lives entangle in increasingly familiar ways. With each encounter she begins to question Paul’s guilt—and her own heart. Soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is more sinister than she ever could have imagined.

A Thousand Pieces of You explores a reality where we witness the countless other lives we might lead in an amazingly intricate multiverse, and ask whether, amid infinite possibilities, one love can endure.

Oooooh and make sure to stick around and enter the epic giveaway for the first 3 books in the series!

Cleo: A princess raised in luxury must embark on a rough and treacherous journey into enemy territory in search of a magic long thought extinct.

Jonas: Enraged at injustice, a rebel lashes out against the forces of oppression that have kept his country impoverished—and finds himself the leader of a people’s revolution centuries in the making.

Lucia: A girl adopted at birth into a royal family discovers the truth about her past—and the supernatural legacy she is destined to wield.

Magnus: Bred for aggression and trained to conquer, a firstborn son begins to realize that the heart can be more lethal than the sword...

The only outcome that’s certain is that kingdoms will fall. Who will emerge triumphant when all they know has collapsed?

Have you read the series? Make sure you pre-order FROZEN TIDES now! Amazon | Barnes & Noble | iBooks

I don't want to spoil the book for everyone so you can go HERE to read the summaries for the other 2 books. And you can see the gorgeous covers above!

So Penguin Teen asked me, "Which fictional kingdom, region, or world you would conquer?"

Ok so I'm not the conquering type but I would love to live in Ixia or Sitia from Maria V. Snyder's Study and Glass books! I'd want to hang out with Yelena, Valek, Ari, and Janco. And since I'd be living in that world and Yelena would kill me for going after Valek I'd like to see if I could tame Janco and make him a one girl guy lol.

Now for Morgan's series I don't care where I live as long as Prince Magnus is there with me. Trust me you'll see why when you read the books lol.

Los Angeles in 2050 is a city of open doors, as long as you have the right connections. That connection is a djinni—a smart device implanted right in a person’s head. In a world where virtually everyone is online twenty-four hours a day, this connection is like oxygen—and a world like that presents plenty of opportunities for someone who knows how to manipulate it.

Marisa Carneseca is one of those people. She might spend her days in Mirador, the small, vibrant LA neighborhood where her family owns a restaurant, but she lives on the net—going to school, playing games, hanging out, or doing things of more questionable legality with her friends Sahara and Anja. And it’s Anja who first gets her hands on Bluescreen—a virtual drug that plugs right into a person’s djinni and delivers a massive, non-chemical, completely safe high. But in this city, when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is, and Mari and her friends soon find themselves in the middle of a conspiracy that is much bigger than they ever suspected.

Blog Tour- UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN by Renee Collins An Interview & A Giveaway!

I am so excited to be kicking off the official UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN blog tour! I have an interview with Renee to share with you today! And make sure to enter the giveaway to win a copy of the book!

Haven't heard of UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN ? Check it out!

Title: UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN
Author: Renee Collins
Release Date: November 3, 2015
Pages: 336
Publisher: Sourcebooks Fire
Formats: Hardcover, eBook
They exist in two different centuries, but their love defies time

Cassandra craves drama and adventure, so the last thing she wants is to spend her summer marooned with her mother and stepfather in a snooty Massachusetts shore town. But when a dreamy stranger shows up on their private beach claiming it's his own—and that the year is 1925—she is swept into a mystery a hundred years in the making.

As she searches for answers in the present, Cassandra discovers a truth that puts their growing love—and Lawrence's life—into jeopardy. Desperate to save him, Cassandra must find a way to change history…or risk losing Lawrence forever.

Now on to the interview!

Hi Renee! First I want to say welcome back to Two Chicks on Books! I am looking forward to UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN and I know my readers are as well and am so happy that you could stop by for a visit!

For the readers: can you tell us a little bit about UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN and the characters?

Until We Meet Again is a love story of two people living in the same house, one hundred years apart. In a twist of fate, they can see each other on the property’s private beach. Cassandra is a girl trying to find herself in the chaos of our modern world. Lawrence lives in an era where his life has been carefully laid out for him. In spite of the differences between their times, they connect over a shared passion for art and beauty. When Cassandra discovers a terrible truth about Lawrence, their days together suddenly become a race against the clock.

Is this book a stand alone or part of a series and if it
s a series do you have a title yet for book 2?

Definitely a stand alone book. That said, I’m working with Sourcebooks on putting out another love story next year.

Were any of the characters in the book inspired by people from your real life?

Well, Lawrence was definitely inspired by my real life dream guy. Does that count? ;) I would definitely say that there is some high school Renee in Cassandra. I was maybe a touch less angsty, but only just barely.

Who was your favorite character to write? What about your least favorite?

I enjoyed writing Lawrence. It was awesome to spend time with him and bring him to life on the page. But at the same time, his viewpoint chapters were my most difficult to write. I not only had to capture an accurate teenage male voice, but one from the 1920’s. Practically every word he spoke was carefully chosen.

What is your favorite passage/scene in UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN?

I loved writing the scene where Cassandra and Lawrence spend the whole night together on the beach. Lawrence makes Cassandra put aside any discussion of the mystery, and so they got to just spend time together and be all cute and romantic.

What kind of research did you have to do for the story?

I had to do quite a bit of research into the way people spoke in the 1920’s. I wanted to make sure Lawrence never sounded modern. You can’t lay it on too thick, though. I tried to add just the right amount of 20’s slang to flavor Lawrence’s speech.

What are you reading right now? Or what do you have on your TBR that you
re dying to read?

I’m currently reading Mysteries of Cove by my good friend J. Scott Savage. But I’m dying to read Walk the Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson. Gotta support the YA Westerns!

Who is your ultimate Book Boyfriend?

Jay Gatsby. Shocking, right? ;)

What inspired you to write YA?

Honestly, I don’t think I ever even considered writing in a different genre at first. The stories that came to me at first always involved a teen protagonist. I’ve since had adult characters squeeze their way into my brain, but it’s still a mostly teenage territory.

Blog Tour- THE ROSE SOCIETY An Interview and A Giveaway!

I am so thrilled to take part in THE ROSE SOCIETY blog tour! I love Marie Lu! I have a would you rather interview with Marie to share with you today! And make sure to enter the giveaway for an AMAZING prize pack!

Haven't heard of THE ROSE SOCIETY? Check it out!

Title: THE ROSE SOCIETY
Author: Marie Lu
Release Date: October 13, 2015
Pages: 416
Publisher: G.P. Putnam's Sons Books for Young Readers
Formats: Hardcover, paperback, eBook, audiobook
Once upon a time, a girl had a father, a prince, a society of friends. Then they betrayed her, and she destroyed them all.

Adelina Amouteru’s heart has suffered at the hands of both family and friends, turning her down the bitter path of revenge. Now known and feared as the White Wolf, she and her sister flee Kenettra to find other Young Elites in the hopes of building her own army of allies. Her goal: to strike down the Inquisition Axis, the white-cloaked soldiers who nearly killed her.

But Adelina is no heroine. Her powers, fed only by fear and hate, have started to grow beyond her control. She does not trust her newfound Elite friends. Teren Santoro, leader of the Inquisition, wants her dead. And her former friends, Raffaele and the Dagger Society, want to stop her thirst for vengeance. Adelina struggles to cling to the good within her. But how can someone be good, when her very existence depends on darkness?

Now on to the interview!

1.       Would you rather be a Dagger or a Rose?

Probably a Dagger! They’ve been having some bad luck, but Raffaele is a less scary leader than Adelina.

2.     Would you rather be Adelina, Violetta, or June if you had to pick one of your heroines or villain from both series?

Oh—June, totally! I wish I had her brain, and she doesn’t go insane at any point in her story….

3.     Would you rather be with Enzo, Magiano, or Day?

It’s a tough call between Magiano and Day…but if I were a teen, I’d go with Day.

4.    Would you rather have the ability to fly or teleport?

Teleport!!! It’s like the faster version of flying!

5.     Would you rather have the ability to read minds or to heal?

To heal. I’m not sure I’d want to know what people are thinking. That could be kind of a curse, right?

6.    Would you rather change the past or be able to see into the future?

Change the past, I guess—seeing the future would take all the fun out of life!

7.     Would you rather be able to visit 100 years in the past or 100 years in the future?

100 years into the future, because think of all the cool things that might exist by then! Maybe we’ll all be cyborgs, or living on Mars.

8.    Would you rather be super strong or super fast?

Super fast.

9.     Would you rather read one awesome book for the rest of your life or a hundred mediocre books?

ONE AWESOME BOOK. ALWAYS ONE AWESOME BOOK.

10. Would you rather eat sweet or salty foods?

Salty foods! I have a salt tooth. Maybe I was a goat in my past life.

11.    Would you rather have a dragon or be a dragon?

Have a dragon—then I can fly on a dragon but still have all the comforts of having, like, opposable thumbs and pretty clothes.

12.  Would you rather get up early or stay up late?

Get up early. I’m a morning person.

13.  Would you rather speak every language in the world or play every instrument?

Speak every language! How cool would that be—traveling would be so much easier!

14. Would you rather always have the same song stuck in your head or always have the same dream at night?

Depends on the song or the dream…..if it’s a great dream, like one where I can fly and stuff, then I pick the dream. I’m not sure I’d want any song forever stuck in my head, even my favorite ones!

15.  Would you rather live in space or under the sea?

SPAAAACE.

16. Would you rather take a vacation on an exotic island or in a romantic city?

Romantic city!!!!

17.  Would you rather live without a telephone or a television?

Hmmm. I could go without the television—but, hey, this is a hard question! Does a smartphone still count as NOT a television??

18. Would you rather live in the city or the country?

Again, depends on the city or country. If the countryside is absolutely breathtaking and I could get to the city within an hour, then I pick countryside.

19.  Would you rather live by the ocean or by the mountains?

Auuuugh your questions are so challenging! The mountains. No—the ocean. No, mountains. Noooo oceans. Okay I go with oceans. Fewer bears and mountain lions if you live near the ocean.

20.   Would you rather be stuck in a house with someone you hate or be stuck in a house alone?

I just had an image of being stuck in a house with Donald Trump and I WILL ALWAYS PICK ALONE.

I am tired of being used, hurt, and cast aside.

Adelina Amouteru is a survivor of the blood fever. A decade ago, the deadly illness swept through her nation. Most of the infected perished, while many of the children who survived were left with strange markings. Adelina’s black hair turned silver, her lashes went pale, and now she has only a jagged scar where her left eye once was. Her cruel father believes she is a malfetto, an abomination, ruining their family’s good name and standing in the way of their fortune. But some of the fever’s survivors are rumored to possess more than just scars—they are believed to have mysterious and powerful gifts, and though their identities remain secret, they have come to be called the Young Elites.

Teren Santoro works for the king. As Leader of the Inquisition Axis, it is his job to seek out the Young Elites, to destroy them before they destroy the nation. He believes the Young Elites to be dangerous and vengeful, but it’s Teren who may possess the darkest secret of all.

Enzo Valenciano is a member of the Dagger Society. This secret sect of Young Elites seeks out others like them before the Inquisition Axis can. But when the Daggers find Adelina, they discover someone with powers like they’ve never seen.

Adelina wants to believe Enzo is on her side, and that Teren is the true enemy. But the lives of these three will collide in unexpected ways, as each fights a very different and personal battle. But of one thing they are all certain: Adelina has abilities that shouldn’t belong in this world. A vengeful blackness in her heart. And a desire to destroy all who dare to cross her.

It is my turn to use. My turn to hurt.
