Deity
Jennifer L. Armentrout
Release Date: November 6, 2012
Paperback: 360 pages
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
ISBN:  1937053148
"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate…

Ok so now on to my interview with Leon.

Jaime- Why are you so darned competitive?

Leon- “I don’t think I’m competitive,” he says. “At least, there’d have to be someone of my skill and talent to be competitive with and that has yet to happen. So how could I be competitive?”

Jaime- What do you think of Alex’s relationships with Aiden and Seth?

Leon- He snorts. “I am the last person to think about or render judgment on other people’s relationships.”

Jaime- You have a secret are we going to find out what it is soon? Any hints?

Leon- “I did have a pretty big secret and yes you find out soon and no I will not give you any hints.”

Jaime- What’s your ideal woman like?

Leon- “Breathing,” he replies.

Jaime- If you weren't a Sentinel what would you be doing?

Leon- Leon laughs. “Oh, that’s a loaded question.”

Jaime- What do you think will happen when Alex comes into her Apollyon powers? Do you think she’ll be able to handle them?

Leon- There’s a pause. “Alex is a very strong girl, but we’re dealing with absolute power, and throughout history, the kind of power has proven to be nearly impossible to control.”

Review- Elixir by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Paperback: 80 pages and also available in eBook format!
Publisher:  Spencer Hill Press

Rating: Loved!!!

Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex.

Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for.

Even if it means making war against the gods.

So I get Elixir in my email and what do I do? I immediately start reading it. Not only was this story from Aiden’s POV but after the way evil Jenn ended Deity I needed more to tide me over until Apollyon! Ok so I don’t know if it made the suffering better or worse lol

I absolutely loved this story told from Aiden’s POV! I adore Aiden he’s just so damned sexy not to mention strong, funny, caring, and smart! And this book although it was awesome; broke my heart too! I hated seeing Aiden in so much pain from what was happening to Alex and his decision to do something she never wanted (even though it was in her best interest) broke me just like it broke him. I loved that he was willing to punch a god and pay for it just to protect her. And I loved seeing just how much Aiden truly loves Alex. That’s something we just don’t get reading the books from Alex’s POV and something I’d like to see more of. Aiden’s POV that is.

Ok so enough rambling I’m going to share one of my favorite passages with you now!

I was jolted awake later. Darkness cloaked the room and the couch
felt infinitely smaller than before. The scent of peaches surrounded
me. Something warm and soft pressed against my side, wiggling closer.
Hands clenched the old t-shirt I’d dug up the day before.

My eyes flew open.

The top of Alex’s head came into view as she placed her cheek on
my chest and let out a little sigh. Every muscle in my body locked up.
Was I dreaming? I think I stopped breathing. What was she doing over
here, on the couch with me?

Alex? My voice sounded gruff. What are you doing?

She lifted her head enough that I could see the shreds of amber
peeking out from behind her lashes. The shattered eyes were the
damnedest thing to see at night. My head hurts.

I started to sit up, but Alex shifted, throwing a leg over mine as if she
was asking me not to move without saying a word.

Uh…” Id never been more unsure in my life, or unable to read a
person. “Do you want me to get you some more aspirin?

No. She placed her head on my chest again, snuggling down. It
feels better now. Empty.

I swallowed. Hard. Empty?

Mmm-hmm, she murmured, shivering. Its quieter when I’m
near you.

My heart stuttered. Quieter? Are you hearing things? A person?

I don’t know. It’s like…” She yawned, splaying her hand across my chest. “It’s like someone talking to me far, far away. Does that make
me?

Seth. Anger surged through me and I fought to keep it out of my
Voice.What?

Crazy? Does that make me crazy?

Not at all, agapi. I lowered one arm and reached down, tugging the quilt up so it covered most of her. “Can you make out what the voice
is saying?

She shook her head. I don’t want to know. I don’t have to, do I?

No.”I ached for her.
Good,”she said, and I wondered if she smiled. Can I stay with
you?
“Always.”Good gods, I didn’t want her to be anywhere else.

Dear Jennifer, stop writing such awesome books! No really don’t lol

I have had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer and, just like her books she is awesome. I don’t know how she does it. I mean having two very successful series and more books coming out. This woman is like Superwoman or something! And what kills me is her books don’t hit slumps, each one is better than their predecessor. Deity is definitely the best of the Covenant series so far!

This one starts up a little bit after Pure ends and the drama picks up almost immediately. Seth, OMG people! Seth is just shady in this book no way around it. I loved him in Pure, I even thought I may be leaning in a Team Seth direction but, nope he fixed that one in this book. I am totally Team Aiden!!!! Well for Alex that is. For me I’m Team Leon lol and the big guy has a secret in this one. I screamed “I knew it!!!!” when I found out but, it only made me love him more. Oh and don’t fret, along with the drama there are tons of steamy, downright hot, sexy scenes that will make you want to say “how can she get away with this in YA?” and then think “Ya know I don’t really care.” Lol Oh and if you’re a crier you will cry! I bawled in a few places but the crying is so worth it! This story absolutely rocks and the ending?!?!? Trust me you will curse Jenn because that ending is just plain evil and you will be dying to get your hands on Elixr like I am!

I had one heck of a time picking a passage. I wanted to share them all lol. But here goes!

“Look,” Aiden said, his hands rising into the air. “Get mad at me. Hit me. It doesn't change anything.”

I moved toward him, to push him but not actually hit him. “You can’t---“

Aiden caught both of my wrists and hauled me into his lap, switching my wrists to one hand. He sighed. “I didn’t mean for you to actually hit me.”

Too stunned to respond, I just stared at him. Our heads were only inches apart. My legs tangled with his, and then he reached up with his free hand, smoothing the mess of hair back from my face. My breath caught as my heart sped up. Our gazes locked and his eyes turned to quicksilver.

He cupped the nape of my neck. I heard his sharp intake of breath. Then he let go of my wrists and grasped my hips. Before I could blink, I was on my back, and Aiden hovered over me. Using one arm to support himself, he lowered his head and brushed his lips over my swollen cheek.

“How do we always end up like this?” he asked, voice rough as his gaze traveled away from my face and down my body.

“I didn’t do this.” Slowly, I lifted my hands and placed them against his chest. His heart jumped under my palm.

“No this was all me.” The lower half of his body shifted down. Our legs were flush. His eyes searched mine, “It gets harder every time.”
