Five-hundred years bloody of civil war ends in massacre or redemption based on the heart of one actress who never wanted this power.

Kascia is shattered when they ask her to join the Enthronement. She wanted nothing more than her planned out life performing at the theater and marrying the man she'd been betrothed to since she was a young girl. But she's left broken and unsure of her existence when the men in her life, who should have loved her, pressure her to join the Enthronement – a contest to prove one girl a true princess and marry the crown prince – so she can let her father's rebels in to assassinate the royal family.

But Kascia loses all confidence in the truths she once held dear as she enters the palace and find the royal family are not the greedy slobs she'd believed whose ancestors had started a 500-year long civil war by raising the taxes to insane rates all at once. Taxes that are still in place. She doesn't just find the prince innocent and endearing, but the king is more a lovable slightly inappropriate grandfather than a hard-fisted tyrant. The queen isn't a cold overload but an elegant though overbearing mother anxious to protect her family and her people.

Can Kascia let her father assassinate the royal family when they aren't what the people believe? If the royal family aren't encouraging the bloodshed, who is? Or is there a reason this spark between them is forbidden?

Kascia must find the answers in time. But can she before the time runs out? Or will the blood be on her hands when the war kills every last man, woman, and child left in Purerah?

The Enthronement is a young adult fantasy romance with dystopian and dark fantasy elements is sure to delight fans of The Hunger Games, The Enthronement, and Matched. Don't miss this best-selling fairytale retelling of The Princess and the Pea.

Enter a world of glittering gowns, treacherous contestants, and royal secrets by clicking the Buy Now button above and find the truth of 500 years of civil war.

Charity Mae’s Top 5 Video Games

Video games were something I only really started to enjoy as an adult. That love of video games has brought so much to my writing. So this post is celebrating that by sharing my top 5 video games as of 2022.

5. Luigi’s Mansion 3

This was a super hard pick. I love gaming, but don’t have a lot of time, and don’t get to play often, but I played this game 100% co-up with my best friend and it was so much fun it made me like a 3D platformer which I normally really don’t like. So, it was this or Five Nights at Freddy’s because I love watching it. I’ve only played like the first quarter of Security Breach, so didn’t feel it counted.

4. Pokémon Legends Arceus

I grew up with my only video games being Pokémon, Pokémon Sapphire and Pokémon Emerald were my first games ever and only games until I was older and bought more Pokémon games myself.  But I really enjoyed this mix of Breath of the Wild style Pokémon hunting. I enjoyed the darker story, sneaking to catch Pokémon, and the way we built the PokeDex.

3. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

So I could also put the original Hyrule Warriors in this slot too. I find I like the hack and slash, but mostly it was the co-up with my best friend that made me enjoy this so much! I just loved playing with my favorite game characters with friends and being a commander like I do in my books with friends.

2. Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD

I love Legend of Zelda. More on that later, but I really enjoy the world, and playing Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD for the first time I thought I’d hate it, but after I finally beat it, I just wanted to go back and play it again. I just get caught up in the story and I love puzzles, and Zelda games are full of puzzles.

1. Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild

Seeing a pattern yet? This game brought me to video games. It really did. As I mentioned, I played some Pokémon growing up, but it was buying a switch to try out this game that sucked me into video games.  I knew NOTHING about Legend of Zelda other than the character you play as is Link not Zelda. But the way it just throws you into the world with no memories so you learn and really can just put yourself into the characters shoes. The story and how you integrate it was amazing and taught me so much about making relatable characters. And it has made me an avid Legend of Zelda fan. I’ve played every game that’s come out since Breath of the Wild that’s Legend of Zelda and have way too much Zelda merch. (So yes, I’m counting down to this May.)

Thank you for reading, and if you want to see more from me don’t forget to check out The Enthronement which is my latest release with The Conviction (it’s squeal) coming in a few weeks.

About Charity Mae:

Charity Mae lives near Mt. Shasta in Northing California and loves the nature there (though she’d like some more snow and rain). She wrote her first 700+ book when she was eleven-year-old and published her first book when she was twenty-one.

When she’s not reading and writing, she enjoys making and watching YouTube videos, gaming (mostly Legend of Zelda and Pokemon), Shark Week, hiking, swimming, and sitting outside while working on projects.

Her works are calculated to be lifting. Works that bring inspiration, escape, and hope. A story can be dark and painful but there is always hope in the end. That’s what we all need to believe to find happiness in the storm. It’s why dancing in puddles is so fun! We take a moment to stop and smell the roses we’ll all be happier. We all need an escape now and then.

Cover Reveal- LOVE ALL by Liza Malloy With An Except & $10 Amazon GC Giveaway!

Today Liza Malloy and Rockstar Book Tours are revealing the cover for LOVE ALL, her new steamy sports romance which releases January 30, 2023! Check out the awesome cover and enter the giveaway!

On to the reveal!

About The Book:

Title: LOVE ALL

Author: Liza Malloy

Pub. Date: January 30, 2023

Publisher: Teal Street Publishing

Formats:  eBook

Pages: 284

Find it: Goodreadshttps://books2read.com/LOVE-ALL

College students Nate and Olivia are a perfect match on the courts-and in the sheets. Everywhere else, they're polar opposites and sworn enemies. But as the chemistry builds, a figure from Olivia's past unexpectedly pops back into her life and the couple realizes they have more in common than they thought. Are these star-crossed lovers doomed to repeat their parents' mistakes, or can they build a life together once the final set is played?

This sassy enemies-to-lovers billionaire sports romance is full of steam!

Excerpt:

God, she was enchanting. Even up close, even in this dim lighting, even after playing tennis… Olivia was pure perfection. Olivia licked her lips casually, drawing my eyes to her mouth. I needed to know if her lips were as soft as they looked, couldn’t help but wonder if she tasted as good as she smelled. But I didn’t dare try.

So instead, I just stared.

Olivia stared back at me with the same intensity. I hoped maybe she would make the first move and breach the six inches between us. Instead, she spoke.

“I’d love to know what you’re thinking right now.”

My heart beat faster. “I’m trying to guess if you’d slap me if I kissed you right now.”

Her perfect lips curved upwards into a grin she tried to hide. “What did you decide?”

I considered my next words, then spoke slowly. “I decided that you’ve had plenty of time to turn away.” I leaned forward, placed my hand on her cheek, and when she still didn’t move, I pressed my mouth to hers.

Before I could even panic that I’d done the wrong thing, she kissed me back. Her lips were velvety smooth against my own, and they parted willingly, welcoming my tongue into her warm mouth. She tasted sweet, like oranges and cinnamon.

Her hand brushed against my bicep, startling me at first, then egging me on as she pressed her fingers against me, practically squeezing the muscle. I reached to place my other hand around her arm, missing and inadvertently grazing the side of her breast before landing on her arm. Still, she didn’t slap me.

The kiss went on and on. Olivia sure didn’t kiss like the innocent girl she claimed to be, but I wasn’t about to complain, either. Her lips fit perfectly against mine, and I was positive that the rest of our bodies would fit just as well.

All of a sudden, all the court lights flashed on, flooding us in full light. We broke apart in an instant, leaving only our fingers entangled. We both gazed down, as though neither of us had realized we were holding hands, and then we each winced from the light.

WHAT’S ONE ITSY, BITSY, LITTLE LIE?

Cassian Anders will be the youngest governor in Illinois history... If he wins.

That’s all everyone seems to talk about these days. Jolie Coldwell isn’t one of them. As a journalist, her priorities comprise digging up dirt on crooked politicians and local cover-ups. When her latest exposé on a congressman lands her in hot water, her days are reduced to covering the senior center’s casino night.

Unexpectedly, news breaks: the on-air investigative segment needs a replacement. This promotion advance could her career.

She needs a breaking story. She needs it now.

The road to office is ruthless compared to the courtroom. Without warning, Cassian Anders’ popularity rating falls, threatening his position on the ballot. He will do whatever it means to secure votes. Now, not only is he engaged, but he’s getting married to his non-existent fiancée...

He’s never relied on luck, but when a convenient but unorthodox wife falls into his lap? He makes her a deal.

He needs a wife. He needs it now.

Will Jolie and Cassian be able to fool the public long enough? Can she handle the public poking around in her past, one she would rather keep under wraps... Above all, can she be a model first lady or are they destined to be a scandal?

THE LAST-MINUTE FIRST LADY IS A STEAMY MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE ROMANCE. PERFECT FOR READERS WHO LOVE OUTRAGEOUS IN-LAWS, HONEYMOONS TO NAPA VALLEY, AND CROOKED POLITICIANS. THIS NOVEL CONTAINS CURSING AND SEX SCENES, AND INTENDED FOR AUDIENCES 18 YEARS AND OLDER.

Excerpt:

“A dirty martini, please.”

The bartender’s eyes went down to Jolie’s cleavage before disappearing to make her drink. If only Jolie were twenty-one again, maybe she would give the bartender the time of day. But she was thirty, and if she wanted a partner; it had to be a man that was steady in his career. Reliable. Caring. And it would help if they looked like Cassian Anders…

The bartender passed her a drink, and she forced herself to relax as she took a long sip. The familiar throat-burning sensation of the gin lit a fire down to her belly. There was a commotion from the entryway, and several people clapped. The hair rose on her arms as she noticed who had walked in.

Cassian Anders.

If she thought he was handsome before, he was downright sexy now.

A suppressed anger pulsated off him. He couldn’t hide it from her. She had too much practice observing and studying body language. His black curls shined under the dim light, his muscle shifting under his suit like a panther as he crossed the room in long strides, nodding as a grin crossed his features. God bless his fiancée.

His thick brow slanted downwards as he commanded attention in the room. He stopped and talked to everyone, plastering a smile on his face as he continued to move with a purpose toward the bar. Toward her.

He was definitely a politician in the making. Giving each person his sole attention, making them feel special. Under the lull of the jazz music playing, she could hear his deep voice rumble.

Forcing her gaze forward, she told herself she didn’t like how his deep, husky voice did strange things to her body. It didn’t help that his announcement from a few days ago was playing silently on a TV in the room.

She wasn’t sure why she ducked her head. Jolie never ran from a fight or cowered for anyone, but she felt severely outnumbered in a room full of his supporters.

“EJ, my man, get me a double Scotch. Neat.”

Forcing herself to relax, from the corner of her eyes, she watched him pass a sleek black card to the bartender. She caught a whiff of his musky cologne and inhaled subtly.

“Miss Coldwell, how nice to see you again,” he said in a silky voice.

She is a world traveler having climbed a volcano in Nicaragua, scaled Angkor Wat in the blistering sun, and roamed the Acropolis of Athens. Oh, she also dabbles in short stories occasionally.

If you can’t catch her writing, you can bet she’s overindulging on poke bowls, listening to the same four songs, or chilling with her adorbs doggie. She is currently pursuing her MFA in Fiction.

The Winter Holidays and YOU!

1.       What Winter holidays do you celebrate in December and January … and how do you celebrate them?

I am English/Welsh and Ukrainian. I celebrate Christmas and New Year.  I used to have a big Ukrainian feast on Christmas Eve (possibly with my body's weight in perogies and mushroom sauce) with my Mom's family, then on Christmas Morning, we woke up and opened presents. Now Christmas Eve is usually our immediate family, a smaller feast, tracking progress on the Santa tracker, and getting snacks ready for St. Nick and his Reindeer. We also say goodbye to the Elves on the shelves (and their antics) on Christmas eve. On Christmas morning, it's time for stockings, presents and a family brunch. We do crosswords and sometimes sled in the afternoon, then Christmas evening is the time for a big meal (turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, and all the rest!). We finish the meal with Christmas cake and pudding (with money in it...whoever has the most at the end of their dessert is the winner!). I loved Christmas so much as a kid because my brothers and sisters would be home for the holidays. Now I can spend it with my kids and our new extended family. New Year’s changes year by year. I used to throw pyjama parties, and now, depending on how everyone feels, we celebrate at midnight and, on New Years' day, decide on one new thing to do for the year.

2.       What traditions are old family traditions?

Christmas eve with my Ukrainian Family started at my Baba's (who had 18 children...lots of uncles and aunts for me!), and then we grew too big for her house, moving to a community hall. It's gotten smaller in recent years as our family grows, and we each have our little units. Our Christmas day our routine is still close to what I grew up with, even with our kids having two homes (their mom and I have separated).

3.       What traditions are the ones that YOU’VE started?

Watching the Santa Tracker, saying goodbye to the Elves, decorating the tree together, sledding.

4.       What sort of activities during the holidays are your favourites?

Anything with family. I love the excitement of the kids on Christmas morning.

5.       What activities do you like the least?

Christmas dishes, I always seem to get stuck with the pans!

6.       What are your favorite holiday memories from childhood?

Waking up and opening stockings, making Christmas custard with my siblings and decorating the tree. My absolute favourite was when Santa would leave us a tree in the forest by our farm and we would take the snow machine and go find it in the woods. It would always be the perfect tree with a  little tag/note from Santa himself!

7.       What are your favorite holiday memories from adulthood?

Watching my kids experience the same joy, sledding in the cold, and seeing my oldest open a toy from Santa that you couldn't get in the store(he hand-made it!).

8.       What are your favorite holiday foods?

PEROGIES AND MUSHROOM SAUCE(recipe in the back of Ghoster Heights!) I would look forward to a HEAPING plate of these on Christmas eve every year. A close second is mom's mashed potatoes with gravy.

9.       What makes these Winter holidays so special for you?

Having some time just for family, letting the people I care about know I love them.

10.   Anything else you’d like to talk about that is holiday-related?

I know the holidays are hard for people who have lost family. It was especially hard the first few years after losing my brother. For me, remembering all the great things we did together during this time helped, and when I went to sleep, I would try and dream of him so I could share my new experiences.

The Winter Holidays and … your characters!

1.       How do your book’s characters celebrate the holidays?

a.       Do they celebrate with family & friends?

Yes, Baba throws a feast on Christmas eve for the apartment. They have it at the community hall down the lane. It's supposed to be a potluck, but she cooks many of the dishes. Everyone is welcome, especially if they have nowhere else to go on Christmas eve.

b.      What do they eat?

There are usually twelve dishes on Ukrainian Christmas eve...but baba changes it year by year. Some favourites are perogies(Ukrainian dumplings), mushroom sauce, turkey, nalysnyky(Ukrainian crepes), kutya (Ukrainian wheat dish symbolizing life)pickled beets, pickled carrots, mashed potatoes, gravy, herring, Holubtsi( cabbage rolls), meats cheeses, breads, and whatever else anyone brings.

c.       What do you think they’d like to do?

I think they'd like to do just that, have a big feast with family and friends and show each other how much they care. Ona might want a video game that boops and beeps.

2.       If your book’s characters visited during the holidays, how would you celebrate with them?

I think we'd cook together, so many of my favourite memories are in the kitchen with family.

3.       Would your character like to say anything to readers for holiday cheer?

Baba would like to say Shchaslyvykh svyat! (Happy Holidays) and Baba would make Ona say it, too, even though her Ukrainian isn't very good. Glen is napping after a long shift so he says zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Corey Lansdell (co-writer, GHOSTER HEIGHTS)

The Winter Holidays and YOU!

1.       What Winter holidays do you celebrate in December and January … and how do you celebrate them?

I always have celebrated Christmas with my family. I have wonderful childhood memories of sitting in my grandparent's living rooms with my brother, parents and extended family singing Christmas carols. I remember both of Grandma's extreme use of tinsel, their Christmas baking and the warmth of family. Since I got married, I have been blessed to celebrate Ukrainian Christmas with my wife and my in-laws. The energy and enthusiasm of my Ukrainian family amaze me, and the food! Oy! We've also always attended a Christmas Eve church service to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

We've always celebrated the coming of the New Year as well. This has varied in how we celebrate. Usually, it includes some time with family at one of their houses. Occasionally, we've attended fireworks in the city.

2.       What traditions are old family traditions?

Some old family traditions include Christmas dinners that are to die for.

3.       What traditions are ones that YOU’VE started?

Attending a Christmas Eve church service. Getting our Christmas tree from a tree farm in the area. Sledding with family.

4.       What sort of activities during the holidays are your favorites?

I love playing board games with my family and a quiet night in front of a fire watching some classic Christmas films.

5.       What activities do you like the least?

Driving. Our Christmas time has always included a lot of driving.

6.       What are your favorite holiday memories from childhood?

Presents! Family time with my cousins.

7.       What are your favorite holiday memories from adulthood?

Reflecting on the birth of Jesus and being with my family.

8.       What are your favorite holiday foods?

I love pumpkin pie, turkey and stuffing, and mashed potatoes.

9.       What makes these Winter holidays so special for you?

There are so many layers to Christmas that I love. Family time, slowing down and enjoying the moments together. It's one of the times of the year when we are all together, and the warmth in those relationships is very special.

The Winter Holidays and … your characters!

1.       How do your book’s characters celebrate the holidays?

a.       Do they celebrate with family & friends?

Kelly answered these already for Ona and Baba; however, I imagine Ryder holding a kid celebration with a gift exchange. Much to his Dad's chagrin. Ryder always has a new board game for his friends to try together. Some go over better than others.

b.      What do they eat?

Ryder's party has rootbeer, cream soda, Pepsi and many kinds of chips.

c.       What do you think they’d like to do?

Even though Ryder can get overly competitive and bossy at the party, everyone enjoys the games and the time together.

2.       If your book’s characters visited during the holidays, how would you celebrate with them?

I would probably enjoy talking to Baba about the Ukraine. Ona would fit in well with my kids. I'm sure they'd play some video games and hang out. I think Glen would love to chat over a beer and put his feet up by the fire.

3.       Would your character like to say anything to readers for holiday cheer?

Ryder would like to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
