New Covers by Rachel Vincent & Cassandra Clare

So there has been a couple of new covers revealed in the last few days for books that we are very excited about; if you haven't seen them here they are!!

They are both absolutely beautiful. We can't wait to get our hands on both of these books.

The first is Before I Wake by Rachel Vincent. Check out her blog post HERE. Be sure to pre-order at Barnes & Noble or Amazon.

The second cover that we wanted to share with you is City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare. This cover was released via USA Today online as well as the prologue. The prologue is wicked and takes place immediately after the end of City of Fallen Angels. Warning: If you haven't read CoFA don't read the prologue for CoLS as it's a bit spoilery for CoFA.
You can pre-order City of Lost Souls at Barnes & Noble or Amazon. Check out Cassandra Clare's post on the cover HERE.

So what do you think of these two covers? Let us know in the comments!

Touch of Power Blog Tour

Today we are stoked to be participating in the Touch of Power Blog Tour! Maria V. Snyder is one of our absolute favourite authors so when we were asked to participate our answer was a resounding YES! On our stop today we have Jaime’s review of Touch of Power from Maria’s new The Healer Series. We are also hosting a giveaway for a signed copy of Touch of Power and if you head over to Maria’s website on January 16th there will be a grand prize winner announced for a $100 spa gift certificate!  After the review make sure to enter to win a signed copy of Touch of Power! Make sure to add it to your Goodreads lists! Here's Maria's Bio

Maria V. Snyder switched careers from meteorologist to novelist when she began writing the New York Times best-selling Study Series (POISON STUDY, MAGIC STUDY and FIRE STUDY) about a young woman who becomes a poison taster.  When she’s not traveling, Maria lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, son, and daughter.

And now here’s Jaime’s review....

From Goodreads.
Laying hands upon the injured and dying, Avry of Kazan assumes their wounds and diseases into herself. But rather than being honored for her skills, she is hunted. Healers like Avry are accused of spreading the plague that has decimated the Territories, leaving the survivors in a state of chaos.

Stressed and tired from hiding, Avry is abducted by a band of rogues who, shockingly, value her gift above the golden bounty offered for her capture. Their leader, an enigmatic captor-protector with powers of his own, is unequivocal in his demands: Avry must heal a plague-stricken prince—leader of a campaign against her people. As they traverse the daunting Nine Mountains, beset by mercenaries and magical dangers, Avry must decide who is worth healing and what is worth dying for. Because the price of peace may well be her life....

When I found out Maria V. Snyder was writing another series I was super excited then, I found out it was another fantasy series and I squeed like a little girl and immediately texted Patricia to tell her!

We both love Maria’s books and she is definitely one of my favorite authors! So I jumped on netgalley to request a copy and it arrived on my kindle shortly after and I started reading the minute it did!

Maria did not disappoint with this new book! I fell in love with the new world she created and the characters; she has a way of making me feel like I’m in the books with how alive she writes her characters and the lands. I’m really hoping there’s a map in the finished copy I think it would add a lot to the story like it did in her Study and Glass books but even so while reading the ARC I had no problem imagining and feeling the perilous journey through the Nine Mountains, the petals of the Peace and Death Lilies, the giant teeth of the Ufa’s, the pain Avry took in every time she healed someone, or the laughter joy and sorrow experienced throughout the book.

The cast of characters Maria assembled was awesome! Avry was an strong heroine and I admired the fight she had in her then there’s Belen whom I fell in love with almost from the moment I met him he was like the big brother I never had but had always wanted. Kerrick was the one whom it took me the longest to grow attached to one moment he was nice and the next you wanted to throw something at him. Then there’s the characters Quain, Vinn, and Flea with the sarcasm and humor that Maria has a way of writing into every book and without these three the story would have not been the same. Last but not leas t the villain of this story Tohon the man is gorgeous enigmatic and hard not to like, except for the fact that he is an evil manipulative megalomaniac whom uses his power for evil. I was attracted to him and repulsed at the same time. Trust me I know this might not make sense but when you meet him it will.

I loved how this story unfolded there’s so much more than what’s in the synopsis there’s twists and turns that will play out through the whole series like who created the plague and why, as well as the fight to free their realms from the tyranny of Tohon. I cannot wait for the next book Scent of Magic which will be a hard wait let me tell you after I finished Touch of Power all I wanted to do was read more!

I’m also posting the UK cover for Touch of Power because it’s amazeballs and I’ll definitely be buying it from The Book Depository as well as the US one J

Touch of Power is out now so go purchase it at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or The Book Depository US cover here UK cover here. I’m also posting The Book Depository’s page for Maria here so you can see all of her other amazing book covers!

Jaime's Review of A Million Suns by Beth Revis

From Goodreads.
Godspeed was fueled by lies. Now it is ruled by chaos.
It's been three months since Amy was unplugged. The life she always knew is over. And everywhere she looks, she sees the walls of the spaceship Godspeed. But there may just be hope: Elder has assumed leadership of the ship. He's finally free to enact his vision - no more Phydus, no more lies.
But when Elder discovers shocking news about the ship, he and Amy race to discover the truth behind life on Godspeed. They must work together to unlock a puzzle that was set in motion hundreds of years earlier, unable to fight the romance that's growing between them and the chaos that threatens to tear them apart.
In book two of the Across the Universe trilogy, New York Times bestselling author Beth Revis mesmerizes us again with a brilliantly crafted mystery filled with action, suspense, romance, and deep philosophical questions. And this time it all builds to one mind-bending conclusion: They have to get off this ship.

Jaime’s review….
Last week I decided to take time off from review books to read books that I hadn’t had a chance to read in 2011 and Across The Universe was one o those books. I immediately got sucked into this world on Godspeed I loved the idea of this whole world on a ship and someone being woken up after being cryogenically frozen for over 200 and some years. I will admit I didn’t really get attached to the MC or even the love interest like I do in some stories instead I was attached to the story and the ship. One of my friends had compared this book to the Outsider series by Maria V. Snyder and I think that’s what scared me from reading it sooner because I loved those books. Well I’m glad I finally read them!
A Million Suns was even better than Across The Universe in my opinion and I actually grew to care more for the MC Amy and the love interest Elder. I loved the twists and turns in this story and the puzzles that Amy and Elder must figure out. Is Godspeed in trouble? Can they survive on this ship? What will happen now that there’s no Phydus to control the feeders? Can Elder lead? Al of these questions are answered and more. I can’t t reveal much as there would be a ton of spoilers but let me just say I cannot wait for the next installment in this series the ending was a whopper! Some people I thought I liked and trusted turned out to be evil and I ended up liking others that I didn’t think I would! I can’t wait for book 3!!!!
I normally bookmark passages so I can post quotes later but with this story I totally forgot! Never fear though I remembered my favorite parts so here’s a passage ;)
I’ve never really looked at the back of a painting before. But now that I do, I notice a faint, almost invisible sketch made with a piece of charcoal or pencil from the looks of it. I squint, lean in closer, then pick the whole painting up and hold it up to the light.
A small animal-this isn’t Harley’s sketching; his pictures were much more realistic. This cartoonish creature looks a little like a hamster, but with huge, exaggerated ears… a bunny. And beside it, a circle…or, rather, a flattened circle that’s more of an oval. In the center of the circle is a tiny square that looks like one of those super-thin memory cards Mom had for her fancy camera. It’s stuck to the canvas with something tacky, but when I slip my fingernail under the edge, it pops right off.
I hold the object up on the tip of my index finger. Black plastic encases a thin gold strip of metal woven with silver threads of circuitry. What is this? It seems so familiar. I turn it over, but the other side is just hard plastic.
And then it hits me-I have seen something like this before. I rust to my desk and pick up the small screen that showed Orion’s first video. Connected to a small port in the corner of the screen is an identical piece of square black plastic. The thing from the back of Harley’s painting is like a memory card… if I could figure out how to swap it with the one already there.
I squint at the back of the painting again, hoping for some other clue. And there, just under the sketch, are tiny words, barely legible.
Follow me down the rabbit hole.
“Curiouser and curiouser,” I say.
Make sure to pre-order A Million Suns it comes out January 10th and trust me you’ll want to go on this long strange trip (sorry couldn’t help the Grateful dead refrence lol)  with Amy and Elder!  Get your copy here at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and The Book Depository! And be sure to check out Beth’s awesome website

Now here’s the excerpt....

Second Chances: Caden’s POV

I opened my eyes to see blurry black lines against a sky blue background looming over me. I don’t remember this…Had I been…asleep? That was impossible! After being conscious for seven hundred and forty-odd years, the very idea of time passing without me bearing witness was unthinkable. Yet, here I was now… Where was I?

I blinked several times. The blurry black lines sharpened into a spider web-like pattern against a glass dome - unspoiled, undamaged by time. This is new. Rolling my head to one side, I found beautiful, pristine brick walls and manicured gardens surrounding me; to the opposite side, silky blonde curls. Amelie, my sister. Wild emerald-green eyes told me she was disoriented as well. Slowly, I pulled my tall, lean body up - first to a sitting position and then to my feet. Every muscle screamed in protest, still not fully awake from whatever ordeal I had endured.

That was when I saw them. Bodies, sprawled throughout the atrium. So many of them. So many of my kind; all of them either unconscious or barely coherent.

“We’re here!” Amelie gasped beside me, also on her feet. “She did it!”

It clicked.

Exhilaration tore through me like a violent storm. With awe, I absorbed every detail long-since lost to us with renewed focus - the working light fixtures, the perfectly-shaped cobblestone paths, the polished silver car. These were not the signs of a world long-since void of humans, destroyed by war. These were the signs of a thriving world. A new world. A human world.

I slowly spun on my heels, drinking in this beautiful sight of which I never fathomed I’d see again. Everywhere I turned, hope flourished and possibilities exploded…

A single tall, sleek figure stood some distance away from me, her long corn silk blonde hair cascading over her shoulders, her startling chocolate brown eyes locked on my face. She stood with fists balled up against her lean thighs, her chest holding a lungs-worth of air. Fear and uncertainty stared back at me, her brow crooked questioningly.
Evangeline.

I couldn’t sense her blood! That sweet nectar coursing through millions of veins - that which made her human - was surely there but I couldn’t smell it! Nothing had changed from our time on Ratheus. But perhaps everything had changed! Were we immune to that unmanageable blood lust after being without human blood for so long? Yes. I felt the corners of my mouth crook into a smile. That would make this transition so much easier!
Evangeline saw me smile. Serenity washed over her face. She smiled back. I breathed a sigh of relief.

That was when my nostrils caught it - the first hints of intoxicating sweetness, tickling my senses. There was only one like it and it was impossible to ignore, impossible to forget, even after seven hundred years of being without. In another second, the full impact hit me, a microburst of desire, my entire body rippling with exhilaration, my vision tunnelling to one thing. One thing only. Nothing else mattered. My eyes began to burn. That meant the hideous veins were revealing themselves, pulsating.

She was so close…I took a rigid step forward. No! I mustn’t give in. I’ll lose control. I’ll lose myself. I took a deep breath, gritting my teeth, trying to restrain myself. But another tidal wave of desire hit me, even more powerful than the first, almost buckling my knees.

Just a taste…

A giant black muzzle blocked my view just as I heard Evangeline scream ,”No!” and then it disappeared along with her and that delicious sweet liquid flowing through her frail veins.

I know what you’re thinking “OH NO!” right? Well to find out what happens you’ll need to read the books and let us tell you they are awesome! Jaime read Asylum and it is incredible! So to enter the contest fill out this FORM and go to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Smashwords to get your free copy of Anathema!

Cover Reveal: Toxic by Jus Accardo

We are super excited to be participating in the cover reveal of Toxic, which is the sequel to Jus Accardo's riveting and amazing debut novel Touch.

I (Patricia) read Touch and found it absolutely fantastic! You can check out the review here

Here's a reminder of what the cover for Touch looks like along with the synopsis...

When a strange boy tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet, seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the opportunity to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie with ice blue eyes home.

Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower, is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she’ll turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez realizes there’s more to this boy—and her father’s “law firm”—than she realized.

Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation—an organization devoted to collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons—his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. The two team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen before they’re caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe.

A secret Kale will kill to protect.
Isn't the guy on the cover just delish? We can't wait to read more about Kale when his new novella, Untouched, comes out. As soon as we know more deets on this we'll let you all know.

But without further delay here is the cover and synopsis for the next book in The Denazen series, Toxic...

(Be warned: If you haven't read Touch be please be aware that the synopsis for Toxic is a bit spoilery to the first book)

When a Six saved Kale’s life the night of Sumrun, she warned there would be consequences. A trade-off. Something taken for the life they gained. But Dez never imagined she’d lose the one thing she’d give anything to keep… And as if it’s not enough Dez finds her immunity to Kale fading, the Six brought in to help Kale learn to control his killer touch starts drooling on him the moment they meet. Worse than that? Jade can touch Kale. But bimbo Barbie is the least of Dez's problems. After Dez and Kale got away at Sumrun, her father lost not only his most powerful weapon but an important piece of the Supremacy project. Forced by Denazen to remedy the situation, he poisons Dez and offers her a choice—surrender to Denazen for the cure…or die. Determined to find a solution that doesn’t involve being bagged and tagged—or losing someone she loves—Dez keeps the poison a secret. But when a rash of Denazen attacks hit a little too close to home, Dez is convinced there’s a traitor among them. Jade. Sacrifices, broken promises, and secrets. Dez will have to lay it all on the line if there’s any hope of proving Jade’s guilt before they all end up Residents of Denazen. Or worse, dead...
This cover is absolutely gorgeous! The way Dez is pictured here is flirty yet conveys her defiant and kick-a** attitude. The background is pretty cool too and make me wonder how much destruction and chaos we befall Dez, Kale & company. We are very much looking forward to reading this book.
