Top 10 of 2017 Sign Up For All The Fun! And A Giveaway!

WOW! Has the year flown by or what? I can’t believe we’re ready for another fun filled week where we look back at some of the best of all things books of 2017 and what books we’re looking forward to in 2018. Last year was a blast co-hosting the event with some of my favorite fellow bloggers –Rachel from Fiktshun, Bridget from Dark Faerie Tales, and Nancy & Christy from Tales of a Ravenous Reader! Sadly, Christy won’t be returning this year but everyone else will be back and we’ve added 2 new co-hosts! Fallon from Seeing Double in Neverland and the lovely ladies at Take Me Away To A Great Read! And this year we’re so excited to add an Instagram portion to the Top 10 of 2017 that will be headed up by  Bridget from Dark Faerie Tales! And always thanks goes out to our original co-hosts Lisa from A Life Bound By Books and Jessica from Confessions of a Bookaholic!

The event runs for five consecutive days, the last week of the year. Five days of some of our favorite lists and we invite ALL of YOU to join in on the fun and share your lists with everyone too!

Each day of the event we hope you’ll visit one of the hosting blogs and share your list with the Linky that will be provided. Just be sure you follow which lists goes on which day. Speaking of... here’s what we’re doing for this year’s event!

Please fill in the blank with ONE of these topics – Diverse Books, Villains, Contemporaries, Dual POV’s, Novellas, Adult titles, New Adult titles, Love Triangles, Couples, Bad Boys or Debuts. REMEMBER – this list MUST be from books you’ve READ in 2017)

Thursday, December 28th – Best Book Boyfriends/Girlfriends of 2017 (MUST be from a book released in 2017 and from a book you’ve READ in 2017)

Friday, December 29th – Top 10 Books I’m looking forward to in 2018. (This list should be comprised of books released ONLY in 2018)


How you do these posts/lists is totally up to you. What books, covers and characters you pick are all your own.

The only rules to follow are posting the topics on the dates we’ve provided.

Now, I know what you’re all thinking. That this will be hard to keep to 10. Some of you might like to break the lists up a bit. Working with a Top 10 for YA books and then a Top 10 for New Adult or Adult titles. Feel free to add honorable mentions if you’re also having a hard time sticking to 10. However, with the honorable mentions, please try to keep it to a minimum or it kind of defeats the whole purpose of things.

Our main focus of this event is for YOU to join in and share your lists with us all and for everyone to visit each other’s blogs’ and see what books have made it on THEIR lists.

The event is simple. Follow the dates and list topics as provided and fill out the linky below. This gives us an idea who will be joining us for the Top 10 week. THEN, be sure to come back to one of our blogs on each of the five days and link up your post for that specific day! Just remember, each day will have a linky for THAT Top 10 topic.

Also, you don’t want to miss a day during the event. We just might have some giveaways up our sleeves and joining in the event, keeping up with our and everyone lists just might help you enter to win! Top Ten Tuesday (66)- Ten Books I Feel Differently About After Time Has Passed

Here's this week's topic.

May 24:  Ten Books I Feel Differently About After Time Has Passed (less love, more love, complicated feelings, indifference, thought it was great in a genre until you became more well read in that genre etc.)

This is probably going to end up being mostly books I don't like but I'm hoping to add a few that I ended up liking more too. But that might be hard since books I don't like usually stay that way.

1. RED QUEEN by Victoria Aveyard. When I first read this one I really loved it but as time passed I realized it was just ok and I hated the sequel.

2. THE FORBIDDEN WISH by Jessica Khoury. While I rated this one 3 stars because I actually finished the book now I really wish that I hadn't. I really didn't like this book.

3. GLASS SWORD by Victoria Aveyard. I rated this higher when I finished it but after a week or so I realized how much I hated this one. I really wish I would have DNF'd this one too.

4. THE IMPOSTOR QUEEN by Sarah Fine. When I read this I loved it but as time has passed it's become just an ok book to me and I don't even know if I'll pick up the sequel.

5. The whole TWILIGHT SERIES. Ok don't hate on me for this let me explain. I will always be appreciative for this series for getting me back into reading and also getting me to read YA books. But honestly this series isn't that great. I loved it when I read it but, after reading so many other YA books that were awesome I now know that the writing was just mediocre.

6. ILLUMINAE by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman. When I read this some things really pissed me off about it like all the uses of quotes or phrases from movies but the more distance I put between myself and the book I started to really love it! I gave this one 4 stars but am seriously considering upping it to a 5.

7. HALF BAD by Sally Green. I rated this a 3 but now that I think on it this book really sucked.

8. THE WINNERS CURSE by Marie Rutkoski. I DNF'd this book the first time I read it but a few friends kept pushing me to pick it back up. I ended up liking it at the time but now that I think about it I wish I never would have picked it back up. I am just not a fan of this authors writing style I DNF'd all of her other books that I tried.

9. SHADES OF EARTH by Beth Revis. It's been years since I've thought about this book! When I read it I rated it a 5 but now that I think on it, that book really pissed me off it wasn't a good finale. So yeah had to add this one.

10. TIGER LILY by Jodi Lynn Anderson. My god what was I thinking rating this 3 stars???? Man I freaking hate this book! I guess my hatred has grown over the years for it.

May 12: Ten Authors I REALLY Want To Meet. I have met a ton of authors hell most of my goodreads read list I've met but this is a group who have eluded me so far.


1. Maria V. Snyder. You'd think that we would have met since we've been online friends for years but nope she never comes to the west coast and I rarely travel east grrrrr.

2. J.K. Rowling. Who doesn't want to meet the creator of Harry Potter?

3. Abi Ketner and Missy Kalicicki. You'd think because I'm their publicist I would have met them. Nope just via phone calls and online stuff.

4. Cat Winters. We always seem to miss each other.

5. Wendy Higgins. Another online friend whom I've never met.

6. Gena Showalter. Love all of her books! I would have tote bags full of stuff for her to sign!

7. Kresley Cole. I love her Arcana Chronicles and can't wait to meet her.

8. Lesley Livingston. Another online friend whom I've never met. Plus I swear she never leaves Canada lol

9. A.G. Howard. Another online friend whom I've never met. 

10. Susan Ee. This chick lives a couple hours away from me and I still have yet to meet her!

Top Ten Tuesday (22)- Top 10 Books From My Childhood (Or teen years) That I Would Love To Revisit

March 24: Top 10 Books From My Childhood (Or teen years) That I Would Love To Revisit

These are in no particular order just books I want to read this spring. Click on the cover for details

1. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES by L.J. Smith. I read these when they first came out in the 90's when I was a teenager and loved them!

2. THE SECRET CIRCLE by L.J. Smith same as above.

3. ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND & THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS by Lewis Carroll

4. THE ARTHURIAN SAGA by Mary Stewart. This is probably one of the best Arthurian Legends I've read. I loved Mary's take on it.

5. THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA by C.S. Lewis. I actually still have a set of these books I really need to read them now that I'm older.

6. DRACULA by Bram Stoker. What can I say? My love for vampires started early ;)

7. THE EARTHSEA CYCLE by Ursula K. Le Guin. Other than Narnia this was my first high fantasy series and I loved it!

8. THE GIVING TREE by Shel Silverstein. I actually re-read this one quite often and it makes me cry more as an adult than it did when I was little.

9. THE DOLLANGANGER Series by V.C. Andrews. I still can't believe I read this in my teens! Flowers in the Attic was crazy! But I'd like to revisit this one too see how much my perspective has changed.

10. THE NEVERENDING STORY by Michael Ende. I loved this book and it will always have a special place in my heart and I love the movie too :)

November 25: Top Ten Books On My Winter TBR.

My TBR doesn't change because of the weather. I read what I want when I want but these are definitely on my must read soon list and I have all of them on my bookshelves.

1. ZODIAC by Romina Russell. A sci-fi/high fantasy with the zodiac signs? Sounds super cool!

2. THE CONSPIRACY OF US by Maggie Hall. Forbidden love and code-breaking, masked balls and explosions, destiny and dark secrets collide in this romantic thriller, in the vein of a YA DaVinci Code. Yes please!

3. SHADOW SCALE by Rachel Hartman. I needs moar dragonssssssssss!!!!

4. INVADED by Melissa Landers. I can't wait to see what Aelyx's home planet is like.

5. SHADOW SCALE by Rachel Hartman. Probably my favorite book about dragons ever and I can't wait for the continuation.

6. A WICKED THING by Rhiannon Thomas. I'm in the mood for a Sleeping Beatuy retelling.

7. ETHERWORLD by Claudia Gabel and Cheryl Klam. I need to see what happens to Regan and Josh!

8. THE STARS NEVER RISE by Rachel Vincent. I love Rachel's Soul Screamers books and I can't wait to dive into this new series.

9. THE WONDROUS AND THE WICKED by Page Morgan. I can't wait to dig into this one! It's the final book in the series and I need to see how it ends.

10. HUNTED by Abi Ketner and Missy Kalicicki. Well I'm hoping to read this one soon since I'm their publicist but it's not purely for work I loved Branded and I'm dying to see what happens to Cole and Lexi!

Top Ten Tuesday (2)- Top New Series I Want To Start

Hi and welcome to my Top 10 Tuesday post! Looks like I'll be sticking with this one for a while since I enjoyed last week's post!

October 21: Top New Series I Want To Start (New..let's say within the last year or two)

1. Moira Rhodes THE DUST LANDS TRILOGY is my number 1. I have heard such good things about this series but just haven't gotten around to reading it. 

2. Cinda Williams Chima's THE SEVEN REALMS SERIES. I know I'm horrible high fantasy fan I need to remedy this one soon. Everyone keeps telling me how awesome it is!

3. Aimee Carter's THE BLACKCOAT REBELLION series. I really wanted to read book 1 PAWN but it was an ebook I had and forgot about it. I just got book 2 so I need to buy the first book now.

4. Sarah Fine's GUARDS OF SHADOWLANDS SERIES. This is another one I keep hearing great thing about.

5. Tamara Ireland Stone's TIME BETWEEN US SERIES. I love a good time travel story I even have the books. I just haven't had the time to read them.

6. Kendare Blake's GODDESS WAR SERIES. And her ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD SERIES. I have no idea why I haven't read these I do have all the books. Another one I just haven't found the time for.

7. Tessa Gratton's THE UNITED STATES OF ASGARD SERIES. I love Norse myth and I really need to get this one!

8. Robin Bridges KATERINA SERIES. *Disclaimer* I've read the first 2 but I really need to finish this one. I can't believe I haven't yet.

9. Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon's DOON SERIES. I have no idea why I haven't read these I do have  the books. Another one I just haven't found the time for.

10. Kristen Simmons' ARTICLE 5 SERIES.I have no idea why I haven't read these I do have all the books. Another one I just haven't found the time for.

Top 10 Tuesday (1)- Ten Places Books Have Made Me Want To Visit

Hi and welcome to my first Top 10 Tuesday post! I've seen this one around the blogosphere for a while now and I've always wanted to participate. So I finally saw a topic that caught my eye and I thought... "Hey why not?" Thanks to the lovely ladies at The Broke And The Bookish for creating this weekly meme!

Here's this week's topic.

October 14: Ten Places Books Have Made Me Want To Visit (whether fictional or real)

1. Sitia and Ixia from Maria V. Snyder's STUDY and GLASS books. This is my favorite high fantasy series of all time and I want to visit these vividly imagined magical lands and of course meet Valek, Janco, Ari, Leif, Yelena, Opal, and all the other characters!

2. Cane from Claire Legrand's WINTERSPELL! This book is one of my favorites of 2014 and the land of Cane is as beautiful as it is dangerous. I would love to visit and maybe party with the fey.

3. The Multiverses from Claudia Gray's A THOUSAND PIECES OF YOU! Another favorite of 2014!!!!!! Especially the Russiaverse! It's a rich and opulent version of Russia! I would love to visit the winter palace and also a certain Daca lol. Ooooh the water world would be fun also!

4. Wonderland but not Lewis Carroll's version. I want to go to A.G. Howard's Wonderland from her SPLINTERED Series. Another beautifully written dark and dangerous world. I may get eaten by a plant but hell even though I'm Team Jeb I want to hang out with Morpheus and his fae friends.

5. Beau Rivage from Sarah Cross's BEAU RIVAGE series. A place where fairy tales and curses are real? I love this series and this town and let the fae curse me if it means I'd find my Blue lol.

6. St. Petersburg, Russia, 1888. From Robin Bridges KATERINA Series. I have always been fascinated with Russian history and the Romanov Family and add a hint of magic? I'm so there!

7. Sleepy Hollow, NY. I've always wanted to visit this place! I love Washington Irving's story and when I read Jessica Verday's THE HOLLOW series it reminded me that I want to visit. I also love the TV series!

8. Hogwarts from HARRY POTTER. Although I'd rather live there than just go visit.

9. Camelot. From Mary Stewart's ARTHURIAN SAGA. This is one of my all time favorite series and I've always wanted to travel back in time to meet Merlin, Arthur, Guinevere, and the knights of the Round Table.

10. Narnia from C. S. Lewis's THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA series. I've wanted to go there since I was a kid and as an adult it hasn't changed. 


So this is just a bit of my list there's plenty more but I kept it to 10. What about you? What are some places books have made you want to visit?
