Top 10 of 2015 Day 1- Best Books I've read in 2015!

Yay welcome to day 1 of our Top 10 of 2015 event! We're so happy that you all are participating with us! 2015 was an awesome year for me. I've read 71 books as of today and will most likely hit my goal of 75 by the 31st! I love the Goodreads Reading Challenge I sign up every year and the people at Goodreads have a cool Your Year of Books when you sign up for the challenge. If you want to see all the books I read this year go HERE!

So today’s topic is Best Books I've Read in 2015 (Doesn't have to be released in 2015, just a book you've read in 2015). And I had a hell of a time narrowing it down to just 10 so there are a few honorable mentions added to this list. If you want to know anything about the books I chose just click on the title and it’ll take you to the Goodreads page!

And make sure to stop by my co-hosts sites Fiktshun, Tales of a Ravenous Reader, and Magical Urban Fantasy Reads for their lists! Oh and make sure to sign up with the linky to share your lists! And don’t forget to enter the giveaways along the way today's is over at Fiktshun! Details are at the end of this post!

1. THE WRATH & THE DAWN by Renee Ahdieh. This was hands down one of my favorites of the year! It was beautifully written and the romance was so *sighs*

2. UPROOTED by Naomi Novik. An absolutely amazing high fantasy I can't say enough about this one except that I wish it wasn't a standalone!

3. AN EMBER IN THE ASHES by Sabaa Tahir. This was one crazy good book high fantasy! I loved Sabaa's writing!

4. TEN THOUSAND SKIES ABOVE YOU by Claudia Gray. Of course this made my list! I love Claudia's Firebird series and this was just as amazing as the first book!

5. SHADOW STUDY by Maria V. Snyder. Like this one wouldn't make my list lol I love every book Maria has ever written and I was so happy that the Study series didn't end with Fire Study!

6. THE STORYSPINNER by Becky Wallace. Another amazing high fantasy (sensing a theme here?) and I've already read this sequel too! Fans of high fantasy must add this to their TBR's!

7. THE RUBY CIRCLE by Richelle Mead. Gah I was so sad to see this series end! But Richelle ended it fantastically! All my Sydrian feels were met!

8.THE WITCH HUNTER by Virginia Boecker. I loved this mix of historical and high fantasy! Virgina has created an amazing world and there's a hot healer that I adore.

9. HEART OF BETRAYAL by Mary E. Pearson. I freaking loved this one! I loved it more than the first book! And I need the sequel now!!!

10. QUEEN OF SHADOWS by Sarah J. Maas. I almost didn't read this one...It was huge and intimidating lol and although I admit that I do think a good part of this could have been left out I still loved it.

Honorable Mentions

NAMELESS by Jennifer Jenkins.

SERPENTINE by Cindy Pon.

THE ARTISANS by Julie Reece.

THE IMMORTAL HEIGHTS by Sherry Thomas.

PERSUASION by Martina Boone.

SIX OF CROWS by Leigh Bardugo.

Book Review- UNHOOKED by Lisa Maxwell

Title: UNHOOKED
Author: Lisa Maxwell
Release Date: February 2, 2016
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Formats: Hardcover, eBook
Find It: Amazon | Barnes & Noble | iBooks | Goodreads
Rating: Loved!
ARC Received from the Publisher for an honest review.
For as long as she can remember, Gwendolyn Allister has never had a place to call home—all because her mother believes that monsters are hunting them. Now these delusions have brought them to London, far from the life Gwen had finally started to build for herself. The only saving grace is her best friend, Olivia, who’s coming with them for the summer.

But when Gwen and Olivia are kidnapped by shadowy creatures and taken to a world of flesh-eating sea hags and dangerous Fey, Gwen realizes her mom might have been sane all along.

The world Gwen finds herself in is called Neverland, yet it’s nothing like the stories. Here, good and evil lose their meaning and memories slip like water through her fingers. As Gwen struggles to remember where she came from and find a way home, she must choose between trusting the charming fairy-tale hero who says all the right things and the roguish young pirate who promises to keep her safe.

With time running out and her enemies closing in, Gwen is forced to face the truths she’s been hiding from all along. But will she be able to save Neverland without losing herself?

I really liked this! I'm a huge fan of fairy tale retellings and most of the Peter Pan/Neverland ones I have read have been a huge disappointment (cough, cough, Tiger Lilly). Not this one though! I thought Lisa wrote a beautiful story and I loved her take on Neverland and that things may not be as they seem. Let me also say I ADORED Hook but every time I thought of him I pictured Colin O'Donoghue from Once Upon A Time, lol that's not entirely a bad thing since I love his character Hook on the TV show. The MC Gwen was awesome I loved her not take crap from anyone attitude and that she was also a strong but vulnerable girl and that she was willing to risk everything to save the ones she loved. If you're looking for an awesome Neverland retelling this is definitely the book for you! Hell even if you're not and just love fantasy I say give this one a read!

Book Review- REVENGE AND THE WILD by Michelle Modesto

Title: REVENGE AND THE WILD
Author: Michelle Modesto
Release Date: February 2, 2016
Publisher: Balzer + Bray
Formats: Hardcover, eBook
Find It: Amazon | Barnes & Noble | iBooks | Goodreads
Rating:Loved!
The two-bit town of Rogue City is a lawless place, full of dark magic and saloon brawls, monsters and six-shooters. But it’s perfect for seventeen-year-old Westie, the notorious adopted daughter of local inventor Nigel Butler.

Westie was only a child when she lost her arm and her family to cannibals on the wagon trail. Nine years later, Westie may seem fearsome with her foul-mouthed tough exterior and the powerful mechanical arm built for her by Nigel, but the memory of her past still haunts her. She’s determined to make the killers pay for their crimes—and there’s nothing to stop her except her own reckless ways.

But Westie’s search ceases when a wealthy family comes to town looking to invest in Nigel’s latest invention, a machine that can harvest magic from gold—which Rogue City desperately needs as the magic wards that surround the city start to fail. There’s only one problem: the investors look exactly like the family who murdered Westie’s kin. With the help of Nigel’s handsome but scarred young assistant, Alistair, Westie sets out to prove their guilt. But if she’s not careful, her desire for revenge could cost her the family she has now.

This thrilling novel is a remarkable tale of danger and discovery, from debut author Michelle Modesto.

Wow this book was really good! I'm going to forever call Revenge And The Wild "the kitchen sink book" because Michelle took everything she could think of including the kitchen sink and put it into this novel! This book was a historical, western, fantasy, with steampunk, magic, and paranormal elements. And you would think that having all of that it wouldn't work but, in this case it really did!

Also let me talk about the MC Westie for a bit. She was totally crass and I loved her. She cursed like a sailor and could drink most men under the table! Also I loved the love story it had the perfect slow burn.

There also is a vampire in this that won my heart! Costin could bite me anytime lol

Overall this book rocked and I'm kinda sad it was a standalone. I'd love to spend more time in this world and I can't wait to see what Michelle comes up with next!

Rating: OBSESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ever since being kidnapped from the Illiais Jungle as a child, Yelena Zaltana's has been fraught with peril. But the recent loss of her Soulfinding abilities has endangered her more than ever before. As she desperately searches for a way to reclaim her magic, her enemies are closing in, and neither Ixia nor Sitia are safe for her anymore. Especially since the growing discord between the two countries and the possibility of a war threatens everything Yelena holds dear.

Valek is determined to protect Yelena, but he's quickly running out of options. The Commander suspects that his loyalties are divided, and he's been keeping secrets from Valek...secrets that put him, Yelena and all their friends in terrible danger. As they uncover the various layers of the Commander's mysterious plans, they realize it's far more sinister that they could have ever imagined.

Perfection! That is all! I know I probably sound like a broken record when it comes to Maria and her books. But I just can't say enough good things! You would think there would be one meh book out of the 5 Study books but there isn't! They are all truly amazing and Night Study was no different! I can't even begin to talk about all the awesomeness that happens in this book because it would be way too spoilery! I loved that we got POV's from Yelena and Valek and Janco again (yay!) but we also got a new POV which was Leif. I really loved reading his side of the story although it made me hungry lol

The story is so intense and so is the romance and magic!!! I am dying to get my hands on Dawn Study!

Valek is just *swoons* Lets just say Valek has ruined all men for me. Nobody could even come close to him.
