Thanks for stopping by! I'm here to share all things Bookish and also news about Movies, TV Shows, and even Video Games I love! I love to read your comments :)
I normally don’t review movies here. Actually I think this is my
first ever lol! But I adore Kami and Margie and their success in the publishing
world; as well as the world of film and it made me want to post this for them.
Because this movie was awesome!
I was lucky to get passes to an early premiere showing in my hometown
last night (I went with my friends Mindy, Tiffany, Jacs, and my mom who loves Kami and Margie) and it was super cool since the premiere was happening in LA too! So
yep I got to see the movie a week early and I know for sure I will be going to
see this one again in the theater!
Me and Mindy at the theater in our "I'm A Beautiful Creature" t-shirts thanks to Little Brown!
If you've read the book Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and
Margaret Stohl you should go into this knowing that no movies are the same as
the books. But this came as close as close as you can get. I mean the book was
a behemoth so they couldn't fit everything into the movie but they got the
important parts and characters in there! I know some of you book purists won’t be
happy with some of the things they left out but it didn’t bother me and trust
me I complained a lot during The Hunger Games, all the Twilight movies, and The
Harry Potter ones. But honestly I didn’t even miss the things missing in
Beautiful Creatures and that’s saying a lot especially as this movie was 2 and
a half hours long!
I was really surprised by Alden Ehrenreich and Alice Englert who
played Ethan and Lena. When they were cast I didn't know who they were and I
was worried that they wouldn't do these characters justice but they did. And
more! I absolutely fell in love with Alden he was the perfect Ethan! And seeing
Alice as Lena on the big screen made me feel like I got to know her better something
I actually didn’t get from the book since the book was from Ethan's POV but seeing them both on the big screen together even though it was Ethan's story I felt like it was both of theirs!
I loved Jeremy Irons as Macon and Viola Davis as Amma. I do have to
admit Emma Thompson who played Mrs. Lincoln / Sarafine stole the whole show!
That woman was amazing she is such a brilliant actress!
The movie itself was brilliantly filmed the effects weren't cheesy
and the location was gorgeous! I am really looking forward to another movie in
this franchise because with that ending and we know there are 4 books there
just has to be more!
Hey y’all thanks for stopping by to see my Dying to Read post and of
course as always I have to give credit to the lovely Jill over at Breaking the Spine for the Waiting
on Wednesday Meme!
This week the book I’m dying to read is A Touch Menacing by Leah
Clifford! I’m seriously in need of this book! I can’t wait to read how it all
ands and even if Luke is an evil bastard I love him! Oh and yeah I want to see
how things end up with Eden and Az too lol ;)
She is
crumbling to ash, and an unnatural plague is ravaging mortals and immortals
alike. With both Heaven and Hell out to destroy her, Eden can no longer tell
the difference between good and evil.
Friends become
enemies. And enemies are everywhere.
But don't
underestimate Eden. She'll fight for her life, for the lives of those she
loves, and for every life she has ever touched.
She'll fight
for revenge. For redemption. For—just maybe—the chance to be mortal again.
Everything
began with forbidden love.
What will be
sacrificed at the bitter end?
The dramatic
conclusion to Leah Clifford's dark, alluring trilogy of life, death, and epic
love.
So what do you think?
Will you be adding this to your pile? What are you dying to read this week?

Millennia ago, he fell from heaven for her. Can he face her without falling again?
Fascinated with ancient civilizations, seventeen-year-old Mia Crawford dreams of becoming an archaeologist. She also dreams of wings—soft and silent like snow—and somebody trying to steal them.
When a horrible creature appears out of thin air and attacks her, she knows Michael Fontaine is involved, though he claims to know nothing about it. Secretive and aloof, Michael evokes feelings in Mia that she doesn’t understand. Images of another time and place haunt her. She recognizes them—but not from any textbook.
About the Author
A Canadian-born author, Lisa Voisin spent her childhood daydreaming and making up stories, but it was her love of reading and writing in her teens that drew her to Young Adult fiction.
When she's not writing, you'll find her meditating or hiking in the mountains to counter the side effects of drinking too much coffee.
She lives in Vancouver, B.C. with her fiance and their two cats.
Instead of saying more, he brushed his fingertips along my cheek, and his halo glimmered. I could hear the waves slapping the rocks behind us, the wind driving them in. That same wind whipped against my skin, but the touch of his hand on my face was all I could think about. It sent a current through both of us and filled me with longing for something I wasn’t sure I understood.
“I’m sorry.” He stepped back and shoved his hands into his pockets as the light around him faded. “You don’t know what it’s like. Being near you now, remembering those moments we had…” His hair blew into his eyes, but this time he didn’t move. I wanted to brush it back, but I didn’t know how he’d react. Would touching him be bad?
“You want to know who you were?” he asked. “You may look different, but you’re the same. I look into your eyes and see you.” He took in a deep breath, fixing his attention on the horizon. I’d seen and heard so much now that the logical part of my brain had long since given up arguing with me. I could feel what he was saying was true. All of it.

Hey y’all!
Happy Super Bowl Sunday and welcome to my stop on the Scarlet Blog Tour!!!! I have an awesome guest post for you today
from Marissa about why she chose France as a setting and some wolfish
information too. Also make sure to check out my review of Scarlethere!
I also have a giveaway US/Canada only for a paperback of Cinder and a hardcover of Scarlet
to one lucky winner!
Cinder
returns in the second thrilling installment of the New York Times-bestselling
Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she
succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.
Halfway
around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there
are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother and the grave danger
she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter
who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she has no choice
but to trust him, though he clearly has a few dark secrets of his own.
As
Scarlet and Wolf work to unravel one mystery, they find another when they cross
paths with Cinder. Together, they must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar
Queen who will do anything to make Prince Kai her husband, her king, her
prisoner.
I get asked a lot about the
settings I’ve chosen for The Lunar Chronicles: China, France, the Sahara Desert…
Having been born and raised in America, it would have been easiest for me to
keep the series in a futuristic version of America, but setting the books in locations
around the globe was a decision I made very early on in the planning of this
series.
One of my main reasons was that I
wanted the series to feel big. A lot of problems that are facing the
characters—the plague, the war being threatened by the Lunars—are problems that
would impact every person on the planet. So by spreading out the story
locations I felt I could better convey the idea that these are big, scary,
global issues.
However, I still had to decide where,
exactly, to set each book. I’ve talked about my choice for China for Cinder on
my web site (http://www.marissameyer.com/faq),
and I’m sure I’ll talk more about choosing Africa for Cress in the future, but
for the purpose of this blog tour and the launch of Scarlet, today I’m answering:
Why France?
When I was first outlining Scarlet,
I had a vague idea that werewolves were going to play a part, taking on the
villainous role of the Big Bad Wolf. I wasn’t yet sure how “wolfy” they would
be or how that very paranormal creature was going to tie into my very
tech-oriented world, but I did know that I wanted a setting that would support
some sort of werewolf beings.
Specifically, I wanted a location
that already had a history of werewolves. Somewhere I could play up an almost
subconscious terror of these mythical beasts, even in a society in which no one
has given in to such superstitions for hundreds of years.
Many of the victims were
children, including a young girl who was found to have had her heart ripped out
of her chest.
However, the beast also attacked
and killed numerous women and even men—sometimes it would attack large hunting
groups, leaving multiple eye-witnesses behind.
The killings were never truly
solved, and it’s impossible to tell how much of the story was peasant
superstition and how much was fact. If the beast was real, it was like no
animal we know of today—both with regards to its physical description, but also
in the way that it hunted and devoured its prey. If the beast was a costumed human
doing the killings, it did not follow any sort of victim pattern that would fit
the modes of serial killers today.
In the 1760s, though, the
townsfolk were convinced that the Beast was a Loup-Garou—a Werewolf. They
believed that it was a human sorcerer who transformed into a vile beast in
order to prey on humans and eat their flesh.
Eventually, King Louis XV himself
put together a team of professional wolf hunters and charged them with finding
and killing the Beast. The hunt continued for months, while the killings piled
up. The hunters did kill an enormous wolf—the largest anyone had ever seen—and
they believed they had finally brought down the notorious Beast. However, a few
months later, two more children were killed…
When the Beast was finally killed
for real (at least, in theory), it was by a local hunter named Jean Chastel. As
the myth goes, Chastel shot the beast with a silver bullet after receiving a
tip from God himself.
(And thus began the mythology of
silver bullets alone being able to kill a werewolf.)
When I finished watching that
documentary, it seemed the choice had been made for me. Southern France not
only had a history of werewolf mythology, but it had a history that had
influenced the mythologies we still talk about today. A history that is still
largely based on an unsolved mystery, that merges elements of truth and legend,
that combines the reality of horrific killings and eye-witness accounts with
stories that have been skewed by superstition and terror.
Sixteen-year-old
Kyra, a highly-skilled potions master, is the only one who knows her kingdom is
on the verge of destruction—which means she’s the only one who can save it.
Faced with no other choice, Kyra decides to do what she does best: poison the
kingdom’s future ruler, who also happens to be her former best friend.
But,
for the first time ever, her poisoned dart . . . misses.
Now
a fugitive instead of a hero, Kyra is caught in a game of hide-and-seek with
the king’s army and her potioner ex-boyfriend, Hal. At least she’s not alone.
She’s armed with her vital potions, a too-cute pig, and Fred, the charming
adventurer she can’t stop thinking about. Kyra is determined to get herself a
second chance (at murder), but will she be able to find and defeat the princess
before Hal and the army find her?
Kyra
is not your typical murderer, and she’s certainly no damsel-in-distress—she’s
the lovable and quick-witted hero of this romantic novel that has all the right
ingredients to make teen girls swoon.
This book was so
cute y’all!!!! It wasn’t the epic, heart-wrenching, OMG my soul hurts High
Fantasy that I normally love and am drawn to but, it was a fun quick read!
This book
reminded me of a cross between Maria V Snyder’s Healer series and Rachel
Hawkins Hex Hall series. It had the high fantasy aspects I love but it also had
humor and snark. The MC Kyra had me laughing at some of her antics. Like
crossing a river in a lacy slip with a pig on her head; yep that really
happened and the scene is hilarious! And let’s talk about the pig... she’s a
tracker like a kind of bloodhound and she was the cutest thing ever! She made
me want to get a pig of my own lol. Oh and there’s a boy and he’s handsome,
funny, smart, and a bit mysterious and I loved him! He totally reminded me of
Archer from Hex Hall.
The story itself
was kind of predictable but hey I had fun reading it and I think it’s a
standalone; but if Ms. Zinn decided to delve back into this world I would
definitely read it!
I chose a funny
scene for you enjoy! J
For some reason, the ridiculous drinking song
reminded Kyra of her dad. He would love Fred.
Kyra quashed the thought as quickly as it had sprung
up on her. She couldn’t think of her family.
They sang it through together, complete with
imaginary beer. The way he watched her sing made her feel as undressed as she’d
been when they first met.
When they finished, Fred picked up the cooking pot.
“I’m going to go give this a quick rinse.”
Kyra was warm all over. She pulled her bedroll out
and snuggled down into it.
A few minutes later, a chuckle came from behind her.
“Kitty, don’t be alarmed, but this part of the forest seems to be populated by
a bush I’ve never seen before.”
“Hmmmm…?”
“It seems to be sprouting women’s underthings.”
Kyra sat bolt upright. “Leave those underthings
alone.”
Fred sat beside her. “I wouldn’t dream of touching
such an unusual plant. It’s probably poisonous.”
Eeeeep!!!!! I love this series by Kristi Cook and I’m super excited
to take part in the cover reveal for the third and final book in the
Winterhaven Series, ETERNAL!!! Check out the awesome cover and blurb ooh and
make sure to enter the giveaway!
THERE’S NO HIDING FROM DESTINY…
In the final book of the Winterhaven trilogy, Violet McKenna and her

been raised, the danger unavoidable now. As the Warriors’ senior year draws to

Are YOU an Indigo Child? Take the Indigo Test
In my new HUNTED series
with Harlequin Teen, a strong inspiration for book #1 INDIGO AWAKENING and
the series is the idea that Indigo, Crystal, or Star children are the next
evolution of mankind. I am very intrigued by the idea that despite what man
might believe—that we are top of the food chain and can’t foresee a 2.0 version
of us—mankind is bound to evolve into something beyond what we are today. And
yes, there are many people who believe that these children (or Indigo Warrior
adults) exist among us and are evolving into a more enlightened version of
ourselves.
Query “Indigo children”
online and you will get over millions of hits. The phenomenon of Indigo
children or Indigo adults have inspired books, movies, TV shows, national news
coverage, and been linked to the CIA and the Pentagon.
The tag line for the
book is “They are our future, if they survive.” In my fictional book, these
special psychic kids are being secretly hunted by the Believers, a fanatical
church that fears what these children (and the Indigo adults who are protecting
them) are becoming. A storm is brewing on the streets of LA.
But today I would like
to see how many of YOU are Indigos and will bravely admit it. Take the Indigo
test and see if you are the next evolution of mankind and share your results
with us in a comment.
If you hate tests, share
your thoughts & answer any question you’d like from this list.
1.)Do you see people's auras?
2.)Have you ever seen the dead or angels?
3.)Are you intuitive or have you
ever had a deja vu moment that struck you as sooooo real? Do you know anyone
like this?
4.)If you were an Indigo, what kind
of psychic powers would you want to have?
Are you ready to take
the INDIGO test?
the link to the test and post your results in a comment. Some of you may not need
a test to tell you what you already know. I have a very strong feeling—call me
psychic—that the followers of this amazing blog are exceptionally gifted
readers.
Because of what you are, the Believers will hunt you down.
Voices told Lucas Darby to run. Voices no one else can hear. He’s warned his
sister not to look for him, but Rayne refuses to let her troubled brother
vanish on the streets of LA. In her desperate search, she meets Gabriel
Stewart, a runaway with mysterious powers and far too many secrets. Rayne can’t
explain her crazy need to trust the strange yet compelling boy—to touch him—to
protect him even though he scares her.
A fanatical church secretly hunts psychic kids—gifted “Indigo” teens feared to
be the next evolution of mankind—for reasons only “the Believers” know. Now
Rayne’s only hope is Gabe, who is haunted by an awakening power—a force darker
than either of them imagine—that could doom them all.
