"My Firstlife is over, but my Everlife is only now beginning."

With her last living breath, Tenley "Ten" Lockwood made her choice and picked her realm in the Everlife. Now, as the war between Troika and Myriad rages, she must face the consequences.

Because Ten possesses a rare supernatural ability to absorb and share light, the Powers That Be have the highest expectations for her future—and the enemy wants her neutralized. Fighting to save her Secondlife, she must learn about her realm from the ground up while launching her first mission: convincing a select group of humans to join her side before they die. No pressure, right?

But Ten's competition is Killian, the boy she can't forget—the one who gave up everything for her happiness. He has only one shot at redemption: beating Ten at a game she's never even played. As their throw-downs heat up, so do their undeniable feelings, and soon, Ten will have to make another choice. Love…or victory.

Now on to the post!

Top 5 favorite scenes in Lifeblood and why?

1.      When Ten learns to send messages to other spirits via the comm inside her wrist.  Her typos crack me up!

2.      When Killian and Ten see each other for the first time since her training as a Conduit/Laborer began in Troika.  They are competing to win the same soul, and should be spewing hate, but their desire for each other is palpable.

3.      The “10 Things” list Killian sends Tenoh my gosh!  Talk about melting my heart.

4.      When Ten begins to understand the power of the Grid (a network of mental doorways and connections between the people of Troika).  She is able to see and talk with and HUG a certain beloved Laborer...

5.       The moment Killian says “Then let us begin.”  I can’t explain further without giving away plot.  Just know that those four words will change EVERYTHING!

Striker Gryphon has lost his position of honor among the Ram, and is now a hunted man. A traitor.

Zo, the object of his affection, was murdered by members of his former clan. To honor her memory, he journeys to the highly secretive Raven “Nest” to warn strangers of their impending demise—though it could cost him more than just his pride.

He doesn’t know that Zo is very much alive and in another part of the region assisting Nameless refugees over a mountain swarming with wild men known as “Clanless.”

As each struggle to make sense of what their lives have become, they fight and claw to reach the Allied Camp, their last hope in bringing peace to the region.

But the road back to one another is treacherous and uncertain. And freedom will come with a price.

Now on to the post!

Top 5 favorite scenes and why.

Narrowing down my top 5 scenes is tricky work, but I’ll give it my best shot.
Let’s do this David Letterman style, shall we?

5- Gryphon trying to cross the lion silk bridge (and really his whole journey to the Raven Nest).

In almost every scene I’d written up to this point, Gryphon is always portrayed as a superior warrior. I like that the Raven humble him quite a bit. Gryphon’s fear of heights was a nice way of breaking his stereotypical role in this series.

4- The scene when Eva and Stone reunite.

I had a lot of fun developing these two characters in this book. Their reuniting was so exciting to write because both characters are completely blunt and 100% unapologetic for who they are and what they stand for. Eva especially is portrayed as almost a heartless figure in the first part of the book. I enjoyed showing her softer side.

3- Zo sealing her blood oath to the Kodiak Clan.

This is such a HUGE moment for the series and plays a big role in the third book. I really enjoyed the world building of this scene and seeing Zo own the role heroine.

2- Gryphon and Zander’s big confrontation.

I don’t want to give too much away, but this scene is really the moment when Gryphon discovers his new identity and draws a line in the sand for his mess brothers to have to decide what kind of men they want to be. I love writing action scenes, and this is my favorite of the series thus far.

1- Gryphon and Zo’s reuniting.

How could you NOT choose this scene? It was so torturous keeping Zo and Gryphon apart, but it really needed to happen and made bringing them back together all the more powerful. The moment Zo wakes up in Gryphon’s arms *shivers* Yes, definitely my favorite scene in the book.

Thank you so much for hosting me on your blog!

About Jennifer:

With her degree in History and Secondary Education, Jennifer had every intention of teaching teens to love George Washington and appreciate the finer points of ancient battle stratagem. (Seriously, she’s obsessed with ancient warfare.) However, life had different plans in store when the writing began. As a proud member of Writers Cubed, and a co-founder of the Teen Author Boot Camp, she feels blessed to be able to fulfill both her ambition to work with teens as well as write Young Adult fiction.

Jennifer has three children who are experts at naming her characters, one loving, supportive husband, a dog with little-man syndrome, and three chickens (of whom she is secretly afraid).

Blog Tour- INTO THE DARK by Caroline Patti Favorite Scenes and A Giveaway!

Haven't heard of INTO THE DARK? Check it out!

Into-the-Dark-cover
A girl’s sweet sixteen party is supposed to be among the most memorable events of her life. But on the night of hers, Mercy Clare wakes in the waiting room of a hospital with no memory of how she got there. To make matters worse, she’s wearing something she’d never be caught dead in: her best friend Lyla’s clothes.

Mercy’s nightmare is just beginning. The doctor arrives to tell her that it’s she who lies in the hospital bed waiting to die. A trip to the bathroom confirms Mercy’s fears, as Lyla’s face stares back at her and Lyla’s curvy figure pokes through her tight clothes.

But finding out what’s really going on won’t be easy. Because if Mercy wants her body back, it might just cost her Lyla’s life.

Now on to Caroline's Favorite Scenes!

1.       When Mercy ends up in the dead body. This is one of the very first scenes I ever wrote and it nearly didn’t make it into the final version. I love, love, love when Nathaniel shows up and casually extricates her. It’s their true bonding moment, and leads to their first kiss. It’s the first time we, as readers, see Nathaniel as human.
2.     When Gage loses his mark. He is really struggling throughout the entire story. Everything he knows is called into question, and he has a lot to deal with. When he’s stripped of his mark, he is catapulted into the unknown.
3.     When Mercy receives Lyla’s memory of Lyla and Jay together. It is such an intrusion, and it should definitively show Mercy that being in Lyla’s body is so very, very wrong. But it doesn’t. Sure, she knows she shouldn’t be watching, but it doesn’t upset her enough.
4.    When Mercy starts her mother’s heart. That’s the biggest surge of power Mercy has. It shows what she’s truly capable of, and how dangerous she is.

MY FAVORITE scene is when Mercy’s rib is wrenched from her body while everyone she loves is forced to watch. It’s painful and each character’s reaction is unique. Sure, they’re all upset, but for very different reasons. Gage and Ariana are willing to fight, but Nathaniel has a total breakdown, which speaks volumes to his character and how deeply he feels for Mercy.
