Fierce Reads Tour 2013- Interview and a Giveaway!

Hey y’all! I was super excited to be chosen as the Fierce Reads blogger for the event at A Great Good Place For Books in Oakland, CA on Sunday, September 29th! I had books to get signed for a giveaway and my interview questions all set to go and then the unthinkable happened… I got sick.

I was freaking out for a few reasons; one I didn’t want to leave the authors and the bookstore hanging and two I didn’t want to leave you, my lovely readers hanging either. Then I found out that one of my best friends Nancy from Tales of a Ravenous Reader was going to go and she offered to ask the authors my questions! I was so happy that she’d do this for me so I have the interview (it was recorded so I think I got all of their responses) and the books to give away. They’re not signed but I have Hardcovers of Tumble & Fall, Scarlet, This Song Will Save Your Life, and The Fallout and paperbacks of Cinder and The Compound for you (US Only) so make sure to enter below!

Onto the Interview!

Alexandra Coutts Tumble & Fall

Two Chicks-Now that you’re finished writing Tumble & Fall. What are you currently working on?

I’m working on a couple things but they’re in the early stages. 1 takes place where Tumble and Fall and Wishful Thinking and I’m excited about that.

Two Chicks- What was so appealing about writing an end of the world story?

I chose to do it because it forced me to distill the relationships and the issues the characters were going through. It was a way to up the stakes of everyone’s problems. I liked that I knew that yes, the world ends (not a spoiler) even though the characters were getting happy endings.

Two Chicks- Who has been your favorite character to write?

Gretchen from Tumble and Fall I loved writing this secondary character.

Two Chicks- What made you want to write about a female DJ? Any real life experience there?

There aren’t enough female DJ’s in Leila’s opinion it’s a very male dominated job and I thinks that needs to change. No I have no personal experience DJ’ing but I have known a
lot of DJ’s.

BTW she loves Pitch Perfect :D

S.A. Bodeen The Compound and The Fallout

Two Chicks- Where did you get the idea for The Compound and The Fallout?

I grew up in the 70’s with tornado drills, nuclear attack drills, etc. and I was intrigued with movies talking about nuclear fallout and what happens after.

Two Chicks- Any hints for what we can expect in Fallout?

It starts about after 3 weeks Compound ends. They start dealing with the Fallout of everything (double meaning) you all just have to read it.

Two Chicks- Who has been your favorite character to write?

Terese I like her because she’s a fun side character.

Marissa Meyer Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress out in 2014 and Winter out in 2015

Two Chicks- So what can we expect in Cress? Is there a love connection for Thorne finally? :D

It's a Rapunzel retelling so expect lots of hair. She’s a hacker stuck in a satellite which is like her tower. An escape attempt goes awry early in the book and as for Thorne you’ll just have to read it ;) ;)

Two Chicks- Will you be introducing us to any new hot male characters?

Yes I will in fact because that’s what I do lol. You get to meet the 4th hero whom we actually got to meet in book 1 but his part was so small you probably didn’t notice. He’s kinda like Daryl Dixon from The Walkind Dead!

Woooooooo hooooooo!!!!!

Two Chicks- Who has been your favorite character to write? You said Thorne last time has that changed?

Nope still Thorne he is so much fun! But I am working on Winter (book 4) and she’s crazy and I’m loving writing her character J
