Book Review- THE WRATH & THE DAWN by Renée Ahdieh

Title: THE WRATH & THE DAWN
Author: Renée Ahdieh
Pub. Date: May 12, 2015
Publisher: Putnam Juvenile
Pages: 388
Rating; Obsessed!!!!!!

A sumptuous and epically told love story inspired by A Thousand and One Nights.

Every dawn brings horror to a different family in a land ruled by a killer. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, takes a new bride each night only to have her executed at sunrise. So it is a suspicious surprise when sixteen-year-old Shahrzad volunteers to marry Khalid. But she does so with a clever plan to stay alive and exact revenge on the Caliph for the murder of her best friend and countless other girls. Shazi's wit and will, indeed, get her through to the dawn that no others have seen, but with a catch . . . she’s falling in love with the very boy who killed her dearest friend.

She discovers that the murderous boy-king is not all that he seems and neither are the deaths of so many girls. Shazi is determined to uncover the reason for the murders and to break the cycle once and for all.

Can I give this 10 stars? This is hands down one of the best books I've read so far this year! The fearless fifteeners have some major talent! I can't wait to read what comes next in this series. I adore Shazi and am totally in love with Khalid! Bravo Renée!

This is so well written I can't believe that Renée is a debut author. She writes with the seasoning of an old pro! The characters and the story felt so real that I felt like I was right in the middle of it and the swoon worthy scenes? OMG they were so perfect! I loved how Renée took the tale of A Thousand and One Nights and made it her own and threw in some other story elements as well. I felt a bit of a Beauty and The Beast vibe. And I loved how Shazi told stories inside the story! Renée may be a debut but I can already tell she is going to be on my auto buy list from now on.
