Michelle was nice enough to add the html for all the YouTube videos so I shared all the songs.
1. Any playlist for Grudging has to start with this song. Come Along by Vicci Martinez and CeLo Green was the inspiration behind the whole book. The very first magic the witch Claire uses involves these words, “Come Along With Me.” “Friends, foes, God only knows” was the line behind the title. I used just about every line in the song for some type of plot point.
2. Brother by NeedtoBreathe is on the playlist because the story starts with two brothers. The elder assured and confident, a captain with his own squad behind him. The younger Ramiro on his first real ride with the squad, trying to earn his beard and prove he is a man.
3. In a desperate attempt to outwit the army holding their city under siege, Ramiro and his brother are sent on a mission to find their traditional enemy the witches. There is little hope the witches will help. It’s all very “Damned if I do, Damned if I don’t,” from Damned by Open Air Stereo.
4. When Ramiro’s mission takes a turn for the worst, Broken by Seether with Amy Lee fits the tone of desperation and aloneness.
5. This throwback song from my past really shows how the characters reacted as they tried to get the people encouraged for the final battle. It’s not often you find a song that perfectly fits a city under siege by a vicious army. A Call to Arms by Mike and the Mechanics :
6. Ramiro and the witch Claire feel each other out. They might not hate each other anymore, but can they ever trust? Make Me Believe Again by Nickelback.
7. As Ramiro heads back home with Claire to do what he can, The Hammer’s Coming Down by Nickelback, demonstrates his determination.
8. At the end, Ramiro realizes he will be himself and not worry about others’ expectations, I Don’t Want To Be by Gavin DeGraw.
Bonus song: There’s a running gag about dry socks through Grudging. Watch for it and enjoy this song about socks, Socks Song!
