“(Money Shot: Comes Again is) a welcome piece of the marketplace that’s terribly underserved.” -– Fandom Post.com

“The big thing … is the incorporation of Cherry Popstar, an inspired addition to this story and a fun nod to classic erotic comics.” – The Beat

Interview with Gisele!

Gisele – how did you get on board the Money Shot ship? Your art is a perfect fit for the series – how much did you love drawing these characters? How was it working with Tim?

Tim and I have followed each other’s work for years, and I think Tim thought I’d be a good fit here since Cherry was going to guest star. Drawing this chapter of Money Shot was a lot of fun. I understood the characters almost as if I had created them myself. Getting to draw Cherry was also a lot of fun as I was familiar with the character. Working with Tim is great, no complaints!

Cherry really spiced up this volume! What inspired you to include her? Did Cherry’s creator Larry Welz love having Cherry included? Tim – how did you approach writing Cherry in Money Shot? Gisele – what was your approach in drawing Cherry?

I drew a few issues of Archie comics, so drawing Cherry came very easy to me. Larry was very influenced by artists that worked at Archie comics. At least I think he was!

List your favorite graphic novels or comics from when you were a child and talk about how you see them as an adult.

I grew up on French BD (bande-dessinée), and what I read the most as a child was Asterix. I was a huge fan of the series, and even tried my hand at writing and drawing my own story when I was like 10 years old. I still think the series holds up, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes fun stories with humor, and characters you really get attached to. Hey, a bit like Money Shotminus the sex!

Talk about your favorite (and least favorite) type of character to create/draw (Gisele) and create/write (Tim).

My favorite characters are the lovable assholes. Think Reggie in Archie comics. I like ‘em because lots of humor comes from those types of characters. They’re also fun to draw since you can make them very expressive. Least favorite? Characters with no flaws. They’re just not very interesting.

What are some of your favorites (and why):

Movies (Classic or Current)

Moonstruck (feel good movie), Raising Arizona (very funny), Just Friends (very funny), Desperado (sexy and exciting), Fright Night (‘80s horror at its best), From Dusk Till Dawn (vampire goodness), Mad Max Fury Road (great action and visuals)

Books

Anything by Rumiko Takashi. It’s all good. You can’t go wrong. If was to recommend one series, I’d say Maison Ikkoku. It’s my favorite series of all time.

Series (TV/Streaming)

Walking Dead, House, Vikings, Dexter, Sex Education. I could list more but these are the first ones that came to mind. They’re all very different from each other but in each case they have characters you care deeply about, and you want to see what happens to them.

Video Games

Plants VS Zombies franchise, Battle Cats, Skullgirls, Minecraft Dungeons, Guacamelee!, Human Fall Flat, Brawlhalla, Darksiders Genesis, It Takes Two. In general I play local co-op with my partner, so many of these games offer local co-op, and these are the ones that stand out to me. Battle Cats is single player but that I play on my phone!

Blog Tour- WIFWULF by @JacksonLanzing, @cpkelly & @DailenOgden With Excerpts & A #Giveaway! @thevaultcomics

I am thrilled to be hosting a spot on the WIFWULF  by Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, & Dailen Ogden Blog Tour hosted by Rockstar Book Tours. Check out my post and make sure to enter the giveaway!

About The Book:

Title: WIFWULF

Authors: Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, & Dailen Ogden (Illustrator)

Pub. Date: May 7, 2024

Publisher: Vault Comics

Formats:  Paperback, eBook

Pages: 112

Find it: Goodreadshttps://books2read.com/WILWULF

Angela Carter's The Company of Wolves and Emily Carroll's Through the Woods meet Squad (Maggie Tokuda-Hall and Lisa Sterle), in WIFWULF - a tale of transformation, blood, and beauty that calls to the wild freedom of our true selves within each of us.

A haunting story of deep loneliness, raw wounds, wild magic, and the freedom of transformation.

Wif. Noun, Old English: A Woman; this word is also the origina from which the word “wife” is derived. Contrast with “wer,” a man.
Wulf. Noun, Old English: A Wolf, a wild carnivorous mammal of the Canidae family, which lives and hunts in packs.

WIFWULF is an original folklore myth telling the story of Charity Bjornsdotter, a young woman in 1860's Montana who spends her days in the woods with her closest friend, a local wolf she calls Silver Slash. Charity is on the precipice of marriage to the most handsome man in her small village, the mercurial-yet-beloved Paul Skeld. But as her husband isolates her from Silver Slash, she begins to feel a call to the wilds...for it is there that her true destiny awaits. WIFWULF is the harrowing tale of a woman forcibly separated from that which makes her feel alive, a reinterpretation of the classic werewolf myth... and the origin story of a new goddess.

A successfully funded, beloved project on Kickstarter, WIFWULF explores a few facets of trauma but especially speaks to relationship abuse, something that has touched more than one member of the creative team. It’s a story that reminds us that even when you feel at your most monstrous, you can find your way back. But not unchanged.

It is also a story about werewolves. About bloody revenge and deep loneliness. About the secret, sad meaning behind the howls we hear from the dark forests on the darkest of nights.

Experience this haunting story in the dark of night, in whatever moonlit warren you call home – or shed your skin, embrace the night, and run wild with magic – and become forever changed.

This book contains mature content and may not be for everyone. WIFWULF contains gore, intimate partner violence, body horror, and animal death.

For fans of Emily Carroll's Through the Woods, Angela Carter's The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories (specifically: The Company of Wolves), works by Kelly Link, Carmen Maria Machado's Her Body and Other PartiesSquad by Maggie Tokuda-Hall and Lisa Sterle, Clarissa Pinkola Estés' Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype, Kelly Armstrong's Bitten, Pretty Deadly by Kelly Sue DeConnick & Emma Rios, By Chance or Providence by Becky Cloonan, Monstress by Marjorie Liu & Sana Takeda, and the films The Witch and Princess Mononoke (Hayao Miyazaki).

“This just may be the most beautiful ‘werewolf’ story I’ve ever consumed in any medium.”
-- Chris Shehan (The Autumnal, House of Slaughter)

"A luscious, vicious fever dream of a fairy tale about the cages we find ourselves in and the true cost of freedom. WIFWULF is the kind of story that lingers." -- Jody Houser (Harley Quinn & Poison Ivy, Stranger Things)
