The Blackened Tablet Series is an epic fantasy quest story with corrupt politics, wondrous magic, and illicit encounters in a supernatural world where no one is safe.

Three hundred years ago, the sacred tablet granted by their god, Jezabet, turned black, and eight kingdoms broke free, plummeting into the bottomless sea. There was no warning, and no one knows why.

Now, a strange illness plagues Aldersward. Crowned Prince Aedyn's sisters, Achelle and Annora, his father, and countrymen are desperate and grief-stricken. All hope is lost...

Until someone dreams, and Aedyn leaves behind his mistress and his betrothed to cure their nation. He enlists his friends; a brazen playboy, a gentle strongman, and an ancient mentor. Together, they set out on a perilous journey-few believe they will survive.

This isn't a fairy tale-s3x becomes currency, murder is ordinary, and love doesn't conquer all.

Everyone loves a hero-good triumphs evil. But few dare to question how victory ripples into consequences. Explore this exciting concept in the Blackened Tablet Series.

Day 43

West Bailey Garden

Aldersward Castle

Aldersward Kingdom

Princess Achelle’s guardsmen stood nearby. They observed their ward in the morning sun’s warmth while she stared at nothing, absorbed in reflection. The pleasant fragrance of flowers and thick grass hung in the air. Aden’s guards joined hers, then fell back, allowing the siblings privacy.

“Good morning.” He smirked and approached, wishing not to startle her.

“Aden.” She breathed, and burst into tears. He dropped into the grass, held her gently, and gave her a few moments to cry. “I heard your raised voices this morning. I can’t imagine our mother dying, leaving Annora and me. I know, it’s selfish, but I can’t bear it.”

“I’m not finished as Father wants.” He smoothed his thumbs over her cheeks, drying them. “I’ll improve my argument and provide a well-planned strategy. Father won’t have a choice but to agree. And he will for our people, I’m positive.” He stared into her green eyes. “But I need more information. Are you certain this was a dream-walk and not merely a dream?”

She tucked her long brown hair behind her ear, then opened her sketchbook. “My powers are not so new that I don’t recognise when I’m using them and when I’m plain dreaming. If it were a dream, I would’ve known the people, places and landscapes. Look.” She pointed to an illustration she had drawn. “Do you see those clothes? Why, if this were a dream, would everyone be wearing robes in the daytime, not clothes? And their skin is not olive like ours, it’s pale.”

He scrutinised the drawing. “Why are there no men? These are all women.”

“I didn’t see any.”

He sighed and shook his head, his hope fading. “I want to believe you, but who are you walking with? How did you find this person?”

“I don’t know.” She shrugged. “It’s been six years since I realised my ability to dream-walk. The first year, I thought I lucidly dreamt, but when others informed me they had seen me and spoke of the same dream, I realised it.” When Prince Aden did not respond, she continued. “I learnt to control it using my friend April’s dreams. It’s quite simple, really. If I can manipulate it, it’s mine and if I can’t, it’s someone else’s and I’m dream-walking.”

Her palm brushed the wavy hair back from her face, annoyed with the wind’s sudden breath. “When I dream-walked in your dream, I did so purposely, simply to show you I could. I didn’t think you would be so angry when I ruined your combat contest.” Princess Achelle laughed.

“I remember.” Prince Aden smiled. “I was livid. Uninvited, you intruded into my private dreams.” She could have arrived when he was naked and tangled at a brothel. It would have irreversibly changed their relationship.

“I remember your anger.” She nodded and returned her focus to her sketch. “Now, how did I dream-walk with this girl?” Princess Achelle speculated. “Maybe she called to me or possesses the skill to draw me into her dream. Or perhaps my gift has progressed and I can dream-walk wherever I need? I’m uncertain. What I know is, I saw her,” she pointed to the image, “heal this woman.”

“Are there other illustrations?” Prince Aden asked, and she flipped the pages. There were many images, all with the same girl, except one. “What’s this?” He scrutinised a man’s bare-chested image about twenty-five, with flowing long, black hair and cold blue eyes. His sword lifted in the air.

“It’s merely a drawing. Often I draw to determine how accurate I can be.” Her cheeks tinged pink with embarrassment.

Prince Aden took the sketchbook and examined the image’s remarkable likeness. “Get to your lessons. I’m going to borrow this.” He withdrew from her, teasing. “Don’t fear, I won’t show father the picture of Guard Augustus. He’d probably thrust him from the castle and condemn you to your chamber.”

“It’s not what you think!” She called and rushed towards the schoolroom, her escorts followed her.

About Aaryanna Abbott:

This is another of my pen names. For every pen name, I use a different part of who I am. I imagine this is how she looks.

What’s this part of me like?

I was a daddy’s girl. The very epitome of spoilt.

I love to be wild and crazy—experience everything the world has to offer. I’m adventurous and my carefree disposition is contagious.

I’m loyal to a fault and don’t care what expectations or labels society has bestowed upon me. I believe one’s truth is more valuable than anyone’s perception.

This part of me writes for escapism—to be free of my mundane day to day and live in a magical world almost as real to me as earth. Except in my imaginary world, I control all things and it pleases me to no end.

Do you know how happy you would be living there?
