Manda Wolfgram is a struggling literary agent who is looking for the perfect manuscript to land in her lap and the perfect man to land in her bed. When the sixth-floor hottie finally asks her out, she gets more than she bargained for. How can a girl wrap her brain around a Shakespearean actor who writes erotica?

Harry Sackes leads a double life: making a career as an author by day and dipping into the dark underworld of criminals at night. The moment he sees Manda in his twin brother's arms, his whole life becomes his personal Shakespearean trag-comedy of mistaken identity and unrequited love in this fast-paced chick lit romance.
Now on to the interview!

Hey Kat!! First I want to say welcome to Two Chicks on Books I’m glad you could stop by for a chat! NOT FOR ME sounds AWESOME and I can’t wait for everyone to read it!

For the readers: can you tell us a little bit about NOT FOR ME and the characters?

Of course! NOT FOR ME is a fun, fast-paced contemporary romance about Manda and Harry. It’s full of flirty fun and Shakespearean drama.

Manda is a struggling literary agent in Chicago looking for the perfect manuscript to land in her lap and the perfect man to land in her bed. When she meets Harry Sackes, the sixth floor hottie who writes erotica and is a Shakespearean actor, she can’t reconcile how this guy who would definitely get her “Not for Me” stamp could be the perfect guy for her.

Harry Sackes has a secret. He’s writing erotica to delve into the underworld of Chicago to stop human trafficking to avenge his sister’s death. A recluse, he relies on his twin brother, Dane to be his public persona. But when he meets Manda, all bets are off. He lands her as his agent on one condition, he has to ghost-write the end of a children’s book about princesses.

What are you working on now?

I also write dark fantasy, paranormal suspense, and middle grade fantasy. I’m working on the sequel for Not for Me right now and am loving Vanessa’s story.

Were any of the characters in the book inspired by people from your real life?

I knew a Shakespearean actor who I saw perform once on stage and thought how amazing a story it would be if he led a double life. The story developed from that one night at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater.

Who was your favorite character to write? What about your least favorite?

I dig Harry. He’s funny. He’s vile. He’s repugnant and he’s the bad boy you want to tame. His interactions with his twin were so fun to write. Similar to Manda and her best friend Vanessa, the beautiful, perfect-life-having friend who always looks great. The make-over Vanessa does on Manda reminds me of getting ready to go out in college. And yes, what Manda finds in Vanessa’s dishwasherthats a real story!

What is your favorite passage/scene in NOT FOR ME?

The scene inside Shedd Aquarium. I dragged my whole family and all the kids there for “research”.

We all had a blast going from exhibit to exhibit and I kept notes for scenes in the book. I love telling the familywe have to go to this place for my next book! (They love it, too!)

What kind of research did you have to do for the story?

Life is research. Living is research. Besides, the inspirational trip to Chicago Shakespeare Theater and Shedd Aquarium, I did do some unsettling research on human trafficking.

Who is your ultimate book boyfriend?

I live with my book boyfriend. My husband is the best pieces of all the super-hot male characters in all my books.

What inspired you to write The Windy City Chronicles?

I’m a pharmacist. Laughter is the best medicine. I wanted a book to made people laugh and lighten my super-heavy paranormal side. This book was therapy for me!
