Why am I excited to see NA expand??????

Most of you know that I only read and review YA books here and I don’t review contemporary books at all. They’re just not my cup of tea. So when this whole New Adult genre popped up and they were all contemporary stories I was like ugh…looks like I won’t be reading anything from this genre. And I have friends who wrote New Adult contemporary books and I wouldn’t read those! I was sticking to my guns and anti-new adult. But then a good friend whom I also happen to beta read for wrote this fantastic Fantasy book that was just a little too sexy to be a YA book; and I knew right then and there that if this was a NA book I’d buy it! Yep make it Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Paranormal, Dystopian and I will buy it and read it! So that’s why I decided to help out with this event because I’m excited to see New Adult taking on other stories other than contemporary and I know I will devour these new books!

So yeah I’m definitely excited to see NA expand and because I want to share my love for the one book who started it all for me I’ll be giving away 3 copies of Trisha Wolfe’s OF SILVER AND BEASTS simply comment below with why you’re excited to see New Adult expand and how I can contact you and I will pick a winner next Saturday, October 19th!

We want to know why YOU want to see NA expand too! Join the campaign by grabbing the gif. above and blogging/tweeting about why YOU want to see NA expand! #NACampaign

  1. New Adult has become one of my favorite genres! I'm still a huge fan of YA but I like that NA's have more mature characters and story lines. But it is not as graphic (with violence and sex) as adult novels do. I will always love to read YA and adult, but it is nice to now have another genre that is a perfect mix of both.

I'll be spreading the word on your giveaway on my blog, twitter and Facebook!!

  2. Hadn't heard of this campaign before. Who's putting it together?

I think the first NA title when it officially became a genre I'd read had a post-apocalyptic/dystopian setting. It was pretty great. But before it became a genre I'd loved Samantha Young's SLUMBER. One of my favorites. I'm curious to see how NA pnr/sci fi would differ from traditional PNR. But I'd never really thought the genre was limited, just that contemps were popular.

And LOL now that you've tested the NA waters next thing you know you'll be reading contemps. :)

(I'm just commenting. Don't enter me in the giveaway.)

  4. Hey same!! Contemporaries are just not my thing! The lack of action or complex plots/schemes...nuh uh. Haha, but I do read it when I'm in the mood for something edgier and sexier than my YAs but not so focused on the sex like Eroticas.

When I first heard about the new NA genre, I was actually very anti-NA too, cause I was thinking if these are coming of age stories for my kids to read, then kids these days are growing up too fast (and with all that sexual content?). But then I read a few after seeing some friends on Goodreads liking them and my "guilty pleasure" mood was on so I picked up Tears of Tess by Pepper Winters. It's this NA BDSM book which is pretty heavy stuff for NA. (I honestly didn't expect the BDSM at all actually!) it was pretty enjoyable, but also disturbing that kids nowadays would accidentally pick it up and read it!

I'm still on the fence with this genre, but it definitely has potential; It does have the potential to have the best of both the YA and Adult fiction worlds. So I'm still holding up hope that NA can expand to have more subgenres and yeah! :) I've never heard of this campaign before, but it's cool. :)

  5. I think that NA could be a lot more exciting. It seems to be very 'safe' at present. I'd love to see it grow into something phenomenal.
