Blog Tour- The Rules by Stacy Kade The Music Behind the Book

Hey y’all! Today I have the awesome Stacey Kade stopping by for a music post! We get a behind the music post and of course I’ve added YouTube videos for The Rules which I’ve read and loved!

Behind the Music for Project Paper Doll: The Rules

I love making playlists! I’ll say it again: there's nothing like the shiver of delight I get when I hear a song that perfectly matches a scene I'm working on or an emotion I'm trying to convey.

Last but not least, this is my third and final playlist post for writing The Rules (with one exception). As with my previous two playlist posts, some of the songs spoke to me because of the lyrics; others were added because of the general idea or emotion they evoked.

Often they make me think of a specific chapter or scene in the book. So, I'm going to try to share that with you...without spoilers! If you haven't read the book yet, you'll probably be a little like, "Huh?" But then when you read it, it'll all make sense! :D

Ever After by Marianas Trench
"I could be your perfect disaster. You could be my ever after."
AND
"Stand up and be a man about it. And fight for something, fight for something, fight for something, oh."

Chapter: Chapter 28
Explanation: Zane has to make a decision about where his loyalties lie.

This Love Will Be Your Downfall by Ellie Goulding
"Who are you to make me feel so good?
Who are we to tell ourselves that we're misunderstood?
Who am I to say that I'm always yours?
Who am I to choose the boy that everyone adores?"

Chapter: Chapter 35, the very last two pages
Explanation: Sorry, I can't say more without giving away too much!

ET by Katy Perry

Chapter: While credits roll. ;)
Explanation: Come on, you know I had to include this one somewhere! :D

BONUS: Bulletproof by David Guetta (feat. Sia)
"You shoot me down, but I won't fall. I am titanium."

This song technically is on Project Paper Doll 2's playlist, simply because of when it was released. BUT...once I saw the video, I knew it had to be on here as an honorable mention. If anyone's wondering what THE RULES is about, this video is a pretty good match, thematically. Except, of course, featuring a slightly older girl instead of a little boy. :) (I love that he has the solar system hanging up in his room--is it a hint about his origins? No idea. I like to think so!)

Great song choices right? Now if you haven’t figures out there’s an alien in this book! Here’s some info about THE RULES

The Rules (Project Paper Doll #1)
Stacey Kade
Release Date: April 23, 2013
Hardcover: 416 pages
Publisher: Disney-Hyperion
ISBN-10: 1423153286

1. Never trust anyone.
2. Remember they are always searching.
3. Don't get involved.
4. Keep your head down.
5. Don't fall in love.

Five simple rules. Ariane Tucker has followed them since the night she escaped from the genetics lab where she was created, the result of combining human and extraterrestrial DNA. Ariane's survival—and that of her adoptive father—depends on her ability to blend in among the full-blooded humans, to hide in plain sight from those who seek to recover their lost (and expensive) "project." But when a cruel prank at school goes awry, it puts her in the path of Zane Bradshaw, the police chief's son and someone who sees too much. Someone who really sees her. After years of trying to be invisible, Ariane finds the attention frightening—and utterly intoxicating. Suddenly, nothing is simple anymore, especially not the rules.

  1. I always loving listening to book playlist. There like a different type of teaser from the usual snippets from the book. Great post!

  3. Good information. One of the best things about the online audio books industry is that companies and websites can offer free audio books because they do not have to buy music literature materials for production. One example of these company is www.musicforte.com - With downloadable music books, there are no products to purchase, which in turn gives online companies the opportunity to offer free downloads.
