Destiny's Fire Blog Tour and Giveaway

Hey thanks for stopping by to check out our stop on the Destiny’s Fire blog tour! This is an awesome book with elements of paranormal and steampunk and Jaime absolutely loved it! Debut author Trisha Wolfe has a hit on her hands! And speaking of hits music is an important process in many authors writing and Trisha is here today to share her Playlist for Destiny’s Fire! Before that though here’s a little bit about Trisha and Destiny’s Fire.

About the author: Trisha Wolfe is the author of the YA Steampunk/Paranormal Romance DESTINY'S FIRE. Her published short stories have appeared in YA literary journals and Fantasy magazines. UNVEILED is her first novelette and part of a Dystopian series releasing TBA. She’s written four books in the past two years, and is currently working on the sequel to DF and a new project. She’s represented by Lauren Hammond of ADA Management.

It’s the year 2040, and sixteen-year-old Dez Harkly is one of the last of her kind—part of a nearly extinct race of shape-shifters descended from guardians to the Egyptian pharaohs. Her home and her secret are threatened when the Council lowers the barrier, allowing the enemy race to enter the Shythe haven.

As the Narcolym airships approach, Dez and her friends rebel against their Council and secretly train for battle. Not only is Dez wary of war and her growing affection for her best friend Jace, but she fears the change her birthday will bring. When Dez’s newfound power rockets out of control, it’s a Narcolym who could change her fate… if she can trust him.

Dez’s guarded world crumbles when she discovers why the Narcos have really come to Haven Falls, and she's forced to choose between the race who raised her and the enemy she's feared her whole life.

On to the playlist!
Music is a huge part of my life. When I’m not writing, I have my ear buds plugged in. It’s the only thing that gets me through the mundane things I have to do through the day.
I listened to a lot of bands while I wrote DESTINY’S FIRE. Some that related to the story well, others were just for fun because I loved them. I’ve picked out a few songs that I think really grasp some of the emotions and scenes in the book. But I was disappointed that I couldn’t find a band that fit what I had in my mind for the futuristic Industrial sound of Devon’s band, Current. So I guess that’s just going to be left of to the readers to hear the music in their heads, which might be better anyway.

Dez goes through a range of emotions during her journey. I listened to a lot of Florence and the Machine while I was writing for her, and I feel “Blinding” is her perfect song. It’s HER song.

Flyleaf had a few songs I was debating on using here. They do an AMAZING cover of “Something I Can Never Have” by Nine Inch Nails, and I really wanted to work that in somehow. But I went with “Again” because, well, have you seen the video? Not only are the lyrics great for Dez’s struggle, but damn. That video couldn’t be more perfect with the flames.

If I HAD to choose a sound for Devon’s band, I would probably throw together a mix, combining Stabbing Westward, Nine Inch Nails, and maybe even Tool and Skinny Puppy. And okay, as long as we’re meshing bands together, toss some Rage Against the Machine in there, too. There, that’s a close sound LOL. But, I listened to this song a bunch for Jace. I pictured him in the club watching Dez dance. Especially the last line of the song works great for him.

There were many more bands I jammed out to while writing, but I have to shout out one of my all-time favorites. I would not get through a day without listening to The Misfits. I must have listened to “Come Back” a million times during this story. It’s the song I envision when I think of Reese near the end of the story.  Link for those who want to check out this amazing band: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHVfLHUQa-0&feature=results_main&playnext=1&list=PL1318E1C4F3A48766)

Thanks for taking a trip into my strange brain. Hope you enjoyed the music!
