Desert Island Books

We are so excited to be participating in another excellent YASisterhood idea!!  It's time for....

So we were posed with the following question: If you knew you were going to be stranded on a Desert Island for forever and ever, what books would you take? But it's not that easy...we could only bring 10 books*--5 YA and 5 Adult....ARGH!!! This made it really tough for us to decide, however, after much thought and consideration here's our lists:
*A series=1 book :)
Patricia's Picks for YA
This is one of my all time favorite series. I have been a huge potterhead for more than 12 years now. If I could only take one series this would be IT!!

I absolutely love the world that Julie Kagawa created in this series. If I could only have one fictional BF for the rest of forever it would have to be Ash. Of course it would have to include The Iron Knight, too!
I love witty, sarcastic, brooding and sexy fictional guys and no one is more of all that than Jace Wayland. But more than that...I just love the concept of these books and could read them over & over.

This is an awesome series filled with ghosts and a totally H-O-T Scotsman. I can't wait for the conclusion of this series with Shine :)
So I haven't finished this series yet...it's five books and I've only read the first two but I am very enamored with it so far and I could NOT go away without finishing.

Here are some of my runner ups:
-The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
-Soul Screamers by Rachel Vincent
-Peter and the Starcatcheres by Dave Barry & Ridley Pearson

Patricia's Adult Picks

The tale of the rise and fall of a remote village. It's one of those books that you must read sometime in your lifetime.
This is a classic that should be on everyone's list and everytime I've read it, I get something different out of it.

This was the first book that I read by Nicholas Sparks and I absolutely fell in love with his writing and his characters.

I've only read this one once but I would love to re-read it and on a deserted island sounds perfect.

This is a fantastic read that is sexy and full of the hottest adult vamps out there. I need a little voom on the island. heehee ;)

Jaime's YA Picks
I’ll take my first editions any day! This series got me into reading YA. Sorry Twilight fans but Stefan and Damon are so much better!
One of my favorite series of all time!
I’ll need a bit of darkness with all that sunshine! So I’ll need my Dark Court
Like I said above Jeri’s my favorite author! Even though book 3 isn’t out yet I know it’s going to be brilliant!
We didn’t represent the Ice Prince in the YA Crush Tourney for nothing! I’ll need his iciness to cool me off from the heat!

Jaime's Runner up:
-Soul Screamers by Rachel Vincent

Jaime's Adult Picks
This series first brought me into reading Paranormal and Vampires
I couldn’t go the rest of my life without the brothers and the sexy times
Jeri’s my favorite author enough said and I love Shane
Besides being a dear friend I absolutely love Adrian’s  writing and Dante.
Who doesn’t need a little magic in their lives plus King Arthur? Win!

Now you may ask yourselves why Jaime & I don't just share our book piles so that we don't have such similar lists but I think the idea is that we are not stranded on the same island. So there you have it. Thanks so much for stopping by.
What  10 books would bring with you?  We'd love to know so leave us your answers in the comments.

  1. I think my adult books would be totally different but I'm pretty sure I would choose the same YA books :)

Nice choices! I would also take a Mary Stewart book but it would be The Moonspinners if I could ever get my hands on a copy.

Marissa @ And many to read before I sleep

  4. @Marissa-I find it interesting that so many people picked the same books :) I haven't read Mary Stewart but I'll just have to add it to the TBR pile.

@Amy-Thanks for invitiing us. This was so much fun. You should check out the BDB asap. It's about a brotherhood of vamps who fight an enemy that try to take them out. It's very sexy, too.

@Kristina-Your post was great. Thanks for sharing. I love that we'd both take HP :D

  5. I love your adult pics. I have got to start reading BDB. I started and just couldn't get into it, but I've heard amazing things.

And I've moved WVMP to the top of my adult reads pile right next to the Shifters series. I hope I can get them soon.

    Love your Island reads :)

  6. @Fiktshun- Thanks, that was super hard to narrow it down. I have so many more books I would've loved to include both in YA & Adult.

BDB is great. Give it another shot, I will be doing the same with WVMP :) I read the first one but I couldn't get into as much as Shade series.

Your list was pretty great, too.
